Maintenance Technician

About the job

The Maintenance Technician will provide maintenance support to the site technologies in production and utilities. They will work as part of a wider maintenance team, responsible for providing a comprehensive maintenance function covering plant, equipment and auxiliary services. In addition, they will strive to continuously improve upon standards by utilising the internal tools available and actively engaging in problem solving and continuous improvement events. The plant is a high volume 24/7 production environment.

About you

  • Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Execute maintenance work orders as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or his/her delegates in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Conduct reactive, predictive, corrective and preventative maintenance on the production process / line, identify the cause of the issue, initiate an appropriate action plan to resolve and report and document actions taken.
    • Monitor and improve OE identifying bottlenecks within the process, report and conduct problem-solving with relevant production team members.
    • Partake and, when relevant, deliver technical training to the production team members with the emphasis being on one-point lessons on the key pieces of equipment.
    • Standardise all machine settings, engineering work, spare parts, training, procedures and records with aim to eliminate adjustment on tooling and replacement parts.
    • Continuously improve standards set by facilitating and executing problem-solving within the plant and perform GAP analysis on manufacturing data to understand where to focus/prioritise problem-solving efforts.
    • Conduct all maintenance work in the value stream in a safe manner following all relevant health, safety and quality procedures.
    • Partake in relevant shift hand-over to include handover of documentation and communication with the next or previous shift to ensure continuity.
    • As part of a wider project team, assist the delivery of key projects that have an impact on the site objectives.
    • Support the implementation and embody the principles of site continuous improvement projects.
    • The ideal candidate:  
  • NVQ Level 3, City and Guilds, NFQ Level 5 National Craft Certificate, time-served Apprenticeship or relevant electrical engineering qualification.
  • Previous experience of working in a high volume, fast-paced environment in FMCG, Manufacturing or Pharmaceutical.
  • Previous experience and proven track record in defining, developing, implementing, executing and delivering projects in a fast-paced high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Process improvement mindset and a willingness to learn new technologies and techniques.
  • Demonstratable communication skills, both verbal and written with ability to work as part of a team.
