ABOUT THE JOB:

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams.  We are looking for a Continuous Improvement Engineer in our Minster, Ohio manufacturing facility.  In this role you will maximize the efficiency of the Packaging Business Unit operations using continuous improvement tools and standards.  You will be expected to be the subject matter expert (SME) for performance data integrity using CUTE methods and standards.   You will engage all members of the production unit to lead process improvement efforts through Loss Tree Glide Path and Improvement Plan Development processes.  You will be a critical member of the team, focused on driving continuous improvement on a line or group of lines within the facility.  You will conduct analysis and implement improvements for unplanned and planned maintenance activities.   You will execute and/or facilitate improvements through proven CI/Lean/TPM tools.

 

Routine activities will include:

  • Participation in daily shift meetings
  • Monitor process application to maximize up-time.
  • Facilitate and monitor progress on targeted improvement plans for the Production Unit.
  • Track Major and Minor stops focusing on reducing Mean time between failure (MTBF) of Minor stoppages.
  • Coach operators in the use of CI tools and standards at the line level (IE. CILT, Zoning).
  • Facilitate Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) Ensure that standards are growing in health and trending improvements.
  • Facilitate and / or actively participating in Root Cause Analysis discovery, execution, and trending improvements.
  • Collaborate with and direct both hourly & salary personnel in the resolution of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, & Nature (SQCDMN) initiatives.
  • Ensure the safety of our people and our products always
  • Identify and communicate breakdowns and gaps in performance with respective personnel / systems
  • Facilitate meetings regarding continuous improvement in performance and reliability
  • Monitor and communicate trends in data sources to maximize asset availability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex, ambiguous issues
  • Perform weekly analysis (e.g., history: MTBF & MTTR, cost, design, PM effectiveness, countermeasures) on equipment, systems, and processes.
  • Ensure standard process and tools are developed for job-specific tasks
  • Facilitate problem-solving activities and discussions
  • Drive continuous and long-term technical downtime reduction via process-oriented management (i.e. involvement of all people, definition & simplification of process, and the use of structured methods)
  • Perform all other assigned tasks/duties

About you

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in any Engineering discipline.  At minimum, an Associate’s degree in a technical discipline, or related field is required.
  • You have advanced problem solving & root cause analysis aptitude, required. 
  • Preferably you have the following:
    • Flow and Value knowledge
    • Dairy processing experience
    • Experience with continuous improvement
    • Total Preventative Maintenance experience
    • Food processing experience
  • You have exceptional verbal/written communication skills, with a meticulous work ethic and keen awareness to detail
  • You can prioritize responsibilities and tasks and am open to learning new ideas techniques, strategies, equipment, etc.
  • You are proactive and have trend analysis (foresight skills, and a quick thinker
  • You have demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and participate as a team player
  • You demonstrate an awareness of surroundings and anticipation of potential hazards/issues
  • You are open to team-collaboration and sharing of knowledge/ideas
  • You are self motivated, persistent, resilient,  adaptable, flexible and have strong multi-tasking ability, with patience for ambiguity. 
  • You are a change catalyst with strong communication and time management skills, and most importantly, you are a team player!
