Mission and Main Responsibilities  

The Industrial Planning Director is responsible for the capacity planning process for Danone North America in addition to the facilitation of the product life-cycle management (PLM) process. This role is responsible for supporting the team in effective cross-functional stakeholder management and collaboration to create a robust plan to deliver the required capacity to support fill rate targets, cost targets and growth/innovation plans. This role provides decision support and guidance to senior leadership to ensure the best possible sourcing solutions along with the most optimum capacity and minimal loss scenarios. In addition, this role drives the continuous improvement of North America’s PLM process and governance.   


Job Dimension:  

  • Short and mid-term capacity management (rolling 18 months):
    • Monthly monitoring, key deliverables completion & communication of performance  
    • Communicate capacity outlook monthly to senior executives through team led meetings within the Design to Delivery (D2D) organization as well as to cross-functional executives in Sales, Marketing, Finance, etc. through our monthly S&OP governance
    • Provide insight into network changes that impact cost, service risk, loss & destruction (waste) risk and material changes to line loading by plant
    • Recommend optimum production to maximize capacity and minimize losses
    • Partner with supply planning to ensure planning systems (SAP APO) reflects the future constrained production plan by plant and format
    • Product Sourcing Analysis and Recommendations (S&OP process):  Based on capacity and variable cost of production, determines the best possible sourcing each time volume demand forecast is updated
    • Capacity and Performance Data Maintenance and Analysis:  Maintain manufacturing data such as OE/OU by plant to track and update capacity and performance
    • Ensure accurate data on plant capacity at least 12 months out (both internal plants and co-manufacturing facilities)
    • Plant downtime management – as part of the overall capacity planning process, manage down time requests, reviewing the cost impacts (milk, Interplant transfers (IPT), absorption, warehouse impacts, etc.), capacity impacts and service risk; drive stakeholder alignment on recommendations and options to mitigate cost and risks
  • Long term capacity management (3-5 years out):
    • Maintain a 5-year capacity plan that is updated annually in the strategic planning process
    • Support the capital request process for capex projects related to new capacity and capability
  • Facilitation and continuous improvement of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process:
    • Drive the annual planning and regular cadenced communications to key business stakeholders (Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, etc.)
    • Foster a PLM mindset by animating the impacts of effective product portfolio management
  • Support team in establishing best practices and process improvement initiatives
  • Lead and develop the industrial planning team

The base compensation range for this position is $127,000-190,000. About you


About You:

Professional Experience/Education needed  

  • 7+ years of experience in planning required, preferably within the consumer-packaged goods (CPG) or food industries
  • 3+ years of direct experience managing a team
  • Bachelor’s degree (required) ideally in Supply Chain, business, or related subjects
  • MBA preferred
  • APICS Certified Production Inventory Manager (CPIM) certification a plus
  • Experience using ERP and advanced planning systems to manage production scheduling (SAP APO SNP, ECC PP, PPDS, etc) is preferred
  • Strong understanding of planning practices and key supply chain principles (inventory, demand planning, supply planning, manufacturing, etc)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to communicate key supply chain facts and recommendations at a Senior Executive level
  • Ability to develop Executive level reports and analysis
  • Ability to plan/communicate/present and execute programs and influence multi-disciplinary stakeholders to enable success
  • Ability to build strong relationships with cross functional peers and team leaders
  • Ability to create metrics, perform analyses and create reporting independently, with minimal IT resources
  • Change agent: open to challenge and change (if needed) existing practices; ability to lead teams to champion change throughout the organization
  • Demonstrated ability working within an environment of multiple internal customers/business units and multiple internal and external production locations
  • Strong quantitative and analytical sills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
