We have an opening for an Operations Excellence Leader based in Mount Crawford, VA! This role will be a critical member of the continuous improvement team, focused on driving continuous improvement on a line or group of lines within the facility.  Responsible for performing the routine loss analysis and building capability within the organization to eliminate that loss.  Conducts analysis and implements improvements for all work processes in order to eliminate Non-Value-Added Activity. Execute and/or facilitate improvements through proven CI / Lean / TPM tools. Must be a change catalyst with strong communication and time management skills. Most importantly, be a team player!


  • You will ensure the safety of our people and our products always
  • You will attend and support all line meetings as part of the daily direction setting process
  • You will work with Production Leader and Maintenance Leader in the development and execution of the Plan for the Day and loss elimination
  • You will own Centerline Management system for the line and routinely coach operators and mechanics on the execution and adherence to this system. Leads process definition to identify Centerline targets and document standards
  • You will own the Finished Product Quality system for the line.
  • You will maintain up to date Centerlines targets and track/check compliance to standard
  • You will meet with each shift daily to review and prioritize unresolved issues
  • You will support off shift critical work and emergency repairs where required
  • You will provide trended data, ad hoc reports as requested by plant team
  • You will conduct recurring Loss Analysis and partners with Line Lead to develop short term improvement plan
  • You will use Plan-Do-Check-Act thought process to analyze line data to identify and prioritize loss elimination opportunities through the Daily Direction Setting cycle
  • You will lead continuous improvement problem solving approach and trigger system to start the problem-solving cycle
  • You will perform Root Cause Analysis on safety, quality and major losses / chronic losses as necessary
  • You will plan and coordinates training to others who will support the Process Improvement initiatives
  • You will design, drive and perform analysis of recurring transactional and effort-based work processes. Drive and track these projects to successful completion.
  • You will develop control strategies and troubleshooting guides to enable operators to respond to sporadic losses
  • You will ensure data is integrated into Daily Direction Setting process
  • You will own integrity of OEE calculations and other line event data tracking systems
  • You will conduct regular and periodic audits of daily management systems
  • You will provide technical direction/guidance to personnel as required.
  • You will network and share best practice with other locations internal and possibly external to the plant


About you

  • You will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related Operations/Process field or have equivalent work experience or training in lieu of a degree.
  • You will have related process improvement working experience in manufacturing or other related industry.
  •  You will have familiarity or exposure to TPM, Lean, Six Sigma a plus.
  •  You will preferably have a Dairy background.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


•     You will have the ability to develop spreadsheets, understand product formulas and

percentages, calculate figures, proportions, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  •   •      You will have the ability to read data from charts, graphs, and instruments, and find digressions.
  •   •      You will have a strategic ability to create, design, and implement improvements to current procedures.

•      You will be able to think quickly on their feet, especially in emergency situations.

•      You will be able to direct or participate in project management from concept to closure

•      You will be able to add and complete work of other production supervisors as needed.

  •   •      You will know all the safety rules, plant rules, GMP, and code of ethics and follows them strictly at all time.
