Production Supervisor - Minster

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams.  We are currently looking for a Production Supervisor within our Packaging department in our Minster, Ohio manufacturing facility.  The Production Supervisor is the front-line leadership for all production employees on your crew.  In this role, you are the face of the organization for operators, mechanics, and all support staff on your shift and are responsible for the success of your crew’s performance and the success of your crew’s team members.

The primary responsibilities of a Supervisor are to effectively lead and supervise the employees on your crew and ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly production KPIs are met for SQCDMN (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, and Nature).

In this role you will:

  • Provide positive and effective leadership to your team
  • Effectively manage your crew’s labor including line assignments, absenteeism tracking, special labor requests, priority line focus, and vacation scheduling.
  • Effectively facilitate communication of all critical information including shift notes, escalation of incidents, overlap meetings, Problem solving, and shift priorities.
  • Analyze the performance of the lines throughout the shift. Facilitate action for performance management, breakdown resolution, incident fact finding, root cause analysis.
  • Advocate and support Safety and Quality through safety incident investigation, risk analysis and resolution, required safety and quality checks, coordination of safety and quality expectation completion
  • Advocate and enforce standard processes; Continuous Improvement standards (Zoning, CILT, Centerlines, defect management, etc.). Review and correct process inefficiencies - below standard performance, proper downtime coding, employee skill gap focus, sanitation completion, process change notices
  • Ensure development of competencies and skills amongst the team to include employee coaching related to problem solving, performance gaps, maintenance/technical support gaps. Issue discipline and encourage engagement through ongoing coaching and development.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required, employee training, HR support requests of employees, managing time off requests, participate in contractual disputes.



About you

About You:

  • You have a HS Diploma or GED, required.  A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical / Mechanical/Industrial Engineer, Food Science, etc. is preferred.  A combination of work history and education will be considered in lieu of degree completion. 
  • You have 2 - 5 years of experience in a manufacturing/processing environment. Previous supervisory experience within a food/beverage/dairy environment is preferred. Previous leadership experience within a union environment is desirable. 
  • You will have demonstrated continuous improvement and/or lean manufacturing experience.
  • You understand cost control and can demonstrate comfort in a high-speed environment. 
  • You possess excellent analytical, troubleshooting, conflict management and problem-solving skills and are flexible and adaptable. 
  • You will possess demonstrated planning, communication, and supervisory skills.
  • You have ability to work any shift, which could include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.  Shifts are 12 hours. 
  • You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and can work with individuals at all levels of the organization. You can be assertive with courtesy and professionalism. You are not intimidated by difficult discussions to ensure ongoing improvement of employees and performance
  • You are resourceful and have decision-making ability
  • You will have the ability to work under pressure and potentially stressful conditions.  You act with a sense of urgency in all situations.
  • You will be able to work under minimal direction, work independently towards departmental objectives. You can effectively prioritize responsibilities and tasks and have effective time management skills. 
  • You are self-motivated and a self-starter and able to work independently toward departmental objectives.  You are action oriented with strong attention to detail.
  • You can see your role as a coach and mentor to all employees with an understanding of servant leadership.
