ABOUT THE JOB

 

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams.    We have an opening for a Project Engineer based in City of Industry, CA.

The Project Engineer within the Aseptic and Extended Shelf Life food plant responsible for project leadership for both the improvement of existing operations as well as deployment of capital for plant and/or innovation activities. This role will provide leadership and technical expertise within processing and packaging areas working alongside maintenance, operations and engineering functions.  Identify and lead cost savings projects.  Champion Continuous Improvement culture through Kaizan and TPM activities.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Manage multiple capital projects through idea, design, quotation, scheduling, execution, and validation.
  • Manage execution of projects within budget and timeline.
  • Uphold Danone safety standards and expectations to contractors.
  • Provide accurate predicted spend.
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams to align on execution of critical activities to complete projects.
  • Actively participate in site safety programs and improvement activities leading to reduction of unsafe conditions, behaviors and accidents.
  • Analyzes, identifies, recommends, and implements solutions for reducing production downtime
  • Leads plant design, commissioning, and operations by monitoring key in-process and laboratory data
  • Oversee process improvement efforts within Extended Shelf Life and Aseptic Food processes
  • Skilled with food processing and/or process engineering – design, operation, troubleshooting, storage, transfer, blending, sterilizing, homogenization, optimization and cycle time reduction
  • Knowledge of Automation, electrical, mechanical and utility systems.
  • Knowledge in AutoCAD.
  • Lead Kaizen activities involving cross functional teams and opportunities
  • Responsible for transfer of new products from R&D to Manufacturing
  • Conduct project feasibility studies including return on investment for manufacturing processes and equipment projects
  • Implement new equipment into existing systems and networks
  • Lead and participate in Root Cause Activities when engineering support is needed
  • Identify and address systematic problems, both technical and managerial.  Develop strategies for problem resolution and champion the change process 
  • Ability to work with manufacturing employees, internal engineering resource groups and outside suppliers to maintain and develop equipment designs
  • Support site operations on site or through emergency call support and/or response

 

 

About you

ABOUT YOU: 

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • BS/BA or equivalent in Chemical, Food, Computer or Mechanical Engineering
  • Two (2) to threee (3) or more years’ experience in Process, Project and/or Plant Engineering in a medium or large size company.
  • Food/Dairy/Process Engineering experiences preferred
  • UHT Pasteurization and Aseptic Filling experience a plus
