ABOUT THE JOB:

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams.    We have an opening for an Engineering Manager at our Salt Lake City, Utah beverage manufacturing facility.  In this role, you will be a member of the plant leadership team and will be responsible for leading the plant engineering team and support all strategic, operational and policy aspects in the areas of safety, quality, performance, management, and organizational objectives.  You will be the owner of the plant capital master plan and long-term plant growth strategy.  This role reports to corporate engineering with a dotted line reporting to the Plant Director.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Acts as Engineering liaison between the facility internal customers and corporate leadership to:
    • Attend facility leadership meetings
    • Act as the Plant’s point of contact for Engineering Projects
    • Assist in communicating and coordinating long / short term engineering strategies
    • Provide technical assistance as required
  • Provides project management leadership and expertise for all capital projects including processing, packaging, building and utility projects:
    • Identifies, creates, and leads efforts to draft and submit necessary documents for CAPEX approval including scope of work documents
    • Review and evaluate Capital Projects Contracts
    • Create POs (Purchase Orders) for Capital Projects
    • Coordinate and lead multi-functional teams within the project
    • Track and manage Capital and Project Expense
    • Manages project schedules, budgets and cashflows
    • Assigns, schedules, directs, and inspects the work of contractors and vendors engaged in project work 
    • Checks and reports on progress and for conformance to project work plans and orders 
  • Reviews production, quality control, distribution and maintenance reports and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to plan, modify, and redirect project and capital activities, as needed
  • Coordinate and lead multi-functional teams
  • Edit and advise on Danone’s Standards
  • Responds to emergency calls, as needed

About you

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Science or related field, required.
  • You have a minimum of three (3) to ten (10) years Engineering Project experience required, required, preferably within CPG beverage/food manufacturing.  Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification(s) a plus
  • Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification a plus
  • You have experience managing capital projects, CAPEX forecasting and payback calculations
  • You have experience with development of Call for Tender documents including, Technical Specifications, Commercial Specifications and Standards
  • You have the ability to analyze, compare, and recommend engineering proposals
  • You are proficient in the use of MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and have experience using MS Project and AutoCAD
  • You are exceptionally organized and self-disciplined to accommodate the management of concurrent multiple projects.
  • You are highly self-directed and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • You are a strong communicator and understand the essential value of engaging and actively communicating appropriate information to all levels involved with and/or affected by the project.
  • You have excellent conflict resolution and interpersonal skills
  • You have a solid engineering technical base refined with broad corporate and plant experience
  • You have knowledge/exposure on the following:
    • Reading, modifying, process flow and process instrumentation drawings
    • Design, Calculation, Implementation and Start Up of CIP (Clean in Place) Systems.
    • Documentation / Record keeping
    • Contractor management
    • General knowledge of plant operations 
    • Exposure to ESL/aseptic and food safety regulations – PMO, 3A and FDA 
    • Solid exposure to food and beverage packaging & processing equipment
    • Utility/facilities/building and grounds management with large ammonia refrigeration systems.
