ABOUT THE JOB 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Product and Packaging Development Technologist to join our Research and Innovation team for the Essential Dairy Product (EDP) business. This role is based at our Kiewa factory.

Reporting to the R&I Manager, you will be responsible for new product and packaging development, ensuring the execution of product and packaging design, as well as conducting trials (pilot and industrial), analysis, data collection, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Product Development - Lead product development, ensure compliance, source raw materials, design and test prototypes, lead industrialization tests, and deliver cost-effective projects. 
• Packaging Development- Lead packaging development, ensure compliance, support sustainability targets, source materials, and manage timely delivery of new packaging projects from design to launch, lead industrialization tests, and validate post-launch performance.
• 3PM Product Development- Participate in the development of some of our products manufactured at third parties.
• Productivity Projects- Active participant in productivity efforts though idea generation and implementation.
• Internal Specifications - Accountable for the creation and maintenance of new packaging, raw material & finished product specifications 
• Project Management Manage projects at different stages working with internal and external stakeholders following Danone Project management stage gate process.
• Factory Support- Provide technical support to the factory for product development, packaging issue resolution, and manufacturing efficiency improvement.
• Stakeholder engagement- Collaborate with multi-functional partners and suppliers to ensure optimal product and packaging at the right cost, communicate the latest trends, and actively participate in the R&I community.

You are an experienced R&I professional with sound exposure to product and packaging profile handling complex and sustainable projects. You have great cross-functional collaboration skills, sound influencing skills, and an inclusive working style with strong stakeholder engagement capabilities. Your prior experience in a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment in a similar role will be highly advantageous. You have a positive attitude, easy to get along with, and above all enjoy taking on responsibilities and new challenges.

To be successful you will also have:

• Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Higher Diploma in Food Technology, BSc in Food Science)
• Prior experience in FMCG delivering R&I projects (dairy background preferred)
• Experience in packaging development projects
• Knowledge of the food industry, preferably dairy
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities
