At Danone, manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams.

The primary function of the Distribution and Logistics Clerk is to coordinate the loading of customer outbound loads. Mutli-task and effectively interact on a timely basis, via appropriate communication media, with our customers/employees.  Maintain a thorough knowledge of the operating system.  Function in a liaison capacity and provide outstanding customer service.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensure adherence to plant standards (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, CODES, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE). As a fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate in and own the implementation and deployment of IWS or related integrated work systems and corresponding pillars (Leadership foundation, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE; Autonomous Maintenance; planned Maintenance; Focused Improvement; Education and Training; Environmental, Health and Safety; Quality; Organization; Supply Network; Early Equipment Management) with the objective of owning your space, owning your performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and owning your continuous improvement.  
  • Check drivers in, verify necessary documents
  • Distribute loads to the floor/forklift operators
  • Monitor carrier delivery and pick up times
  • Update daily loading schedule as it relates to dock appointment times
  • Print BOL, check drivers out verify documents
  • Ensure paperwork completed timely and accurately
  • Assign, monitor and dispatch yard driver for shuttling trailers
  • Track dock doors for trailers
  • Create transfer orders and or run all transfer orders and prepare documents for outbound loads
  • SAP reconciliation of inbound and outbound shipments
  • Review orders/shipments from previous day to validate carrier pickups
  • Respond to and resolve appointment scheduling and delivery issues
  • All other duties as assigned or become evident

  • Ability to learn all functions of job and complete required trainings for position within a reasonable amount of time
  • Proficiency in MS Office Excel and basic PC skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills within all levels of the organization
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions and to keep accurate written/system records
  • Proven decision making ability
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Prior experience working with SAP
  • Ability to work various hours and shifts
  • Able to work overtime when required
  • Flexibility

 

  1. Education and Experience
  • High School education or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years logistics experience preferred, preferably in the food/beverage industry

 

Materials and Equipment Directly Used:

    • Office machinery including: computers/tablets, printers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, etc.
    • Software including:  Microsoft Office including Outlook, Smartsheets

Physical Demands: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and hear.  The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a general office environment where the noise level is usually moderate.
