This is Permanent Position, working Monday - Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm, 40 hours per week.

 

Come and join us in our state-of-the-art laboratory based at Mangere! We have a fantastic new opportunity for the Microbiology Technician to be part of our fun-loving and dynamic team Quality and Food Safety team. Your key responsibility in the role is to promote Quality and Food Safety within Danone manufacturing by conducting effective testing in accordance with approved standards and making recommendations for continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Team Leader - Microbiology you will be part of the Lab Microbiology team. The role will focus on supporting testing needs as per approved methods and environmental sampling.

 

You will:

  • Prepare and maintain media, reagents, and laboratory equipment
  • Complete the purchasing and stock inventory of approved testing reagents/consumables.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring and quality control checks to ensure compliance with ISO17025 including preparation of the required consumables and reagents.
  • Accurately record and organise data including sample registration in Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Perform routine calibration of laboratory equipment and operate/maintain laboratory equipment with care in a safe manner.
  • Test laboratory samples as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised laboratory environment in line with Good Laboratory Practice and health and safety guidelines
  • Support Laboratory team with trials and ongoing projects as required.

ABOUT YOU - Mō Koe

 

You will have a tertiary qualification in Microbiology/Science or equivalent. You enjoy working in a laboratory environment and have a continuous improvement mindset and great initiative when it comes to supporting the team.

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Hands-on experience in a microbiology or food testing laboratory ISO17025 laboratory experience will be advantageous.
  • Experience in environmental monitoring would be beneficial.
  • A good understanding of basic chemistry, biology, and physics principles
  • Understanding of microbiological testing requirements of infant formula.
  • Working knowledge of good laboratory practice (GLP)             
  • Computer literacy and Intermediate level in MS Excel, LIMS operational knowledge beneficial.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow SOPs precisely.
  • Strong ownership of your work and good communication skills
  • The agility and resilience to succeed in a pressured and fast-paced environment
