Lead Customs (DPA - Fulltime)

As Lead Customs for Specialised Nutrition (SN) you are responsible for safeguarding smooth export/import flows out/in the Netherlands for Danone’s medical care & early nutrition products. You support the Customs & Trade Compliance team in creating a customs centre of excellence. You’ll work from the offices in Hoofddorp (NL) and report directly to the Customs & Trade Compliance Manager in Belgium. Possibility to work hybrid.

 

In your role as Lead Customs, being part of Customs Centre of Excellence (CoE), your responsibilities are:

  • Secure fluent customs (import/export) operations of goods into/out of the Netherlands for Medical & Baby food products to countries worldwide
  • Responsible for up to date procedures for the proper handling of customs operations for local sites to execute
  • Cover the customs basics for different local sites to ensure compliance within set regulations
  • Be accountable for setting-up compliant rules to local sites for them to execute. Offer support for system maintenance and updates of the respective local sites.
  • Lead in customs audits for supply points in Europe and ensure consistent guidelines are shared until destination for end-to-end compliant export flows.
  • Collaboration with other departments (Transport, Warehouse, IT, Supply-Chain, Finance/Tax...) for optimal customer service in terms of handling customs formalities.
  • Apply & monitor customs licences and other authorizations
  • Make training needs and give workshops to stakeholders on trade compliance and customs basics
  • Be point of contact for the customs execution teams & external stakeholders (e.g. customs authorities, control tower, trade organisations,…). Handle internal customs questions
  • Monitor EU regulations and plan/ implement necessary modifications on time
  • Advisory function to broader Danone community on customs/excise & trade compliance
  • Reporting of customs data + continuous improvement on our processes covering our local sites in Europe

About you

To be able to achieve the above and be successful in this role we believe you need to:

  • Have a Bachelor degree and multiple years of experience in customs operations for export/import and/or willing to broaden the knowledge level
  • Have a good knowledge of technical customs essentials (classification/origin/value)
  • Ideally experience with export operations out of The Netherlands
  • Be able to work independently and have strong skills in communicating, managing, negotiating with different stakeholders within and outside Danone
  • Have strong & right leadership, presentation, coordination & convincing skills towards creating buy in of all relevant stakeholders
  • Be a true problem solver with collaboration skills
  • Have the skill to lead multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities
  • Fluent in Dutch and English is a must. French is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office package
  • Relevant systems (SAP, PowerBI, Stratech) knowledge and/or VAT know-how is a plus
