Danone North America (NA) is looking for a Packaging Engineer, for their North American based Division, to be located in Louisville, Colorado or White Plains, NY.

The Packaging Engineer is responsible to support innovation, renovation, sustainability, and productivity projects on cross functional teams.

In this role you will be accountable for:

  • Develop primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging
  • Support Danone Innovation process by proposing, developing, and implementing packaging options.
  • Demonstrate creativity in the development of packaging systems.
  • Research and develop new packaging materials, shapes, and assemblies in support of the Danone portfolio of brands and products.
  • Deliver technical guidance and packaging engineering support to the business units.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, plants, co-manufacturers, and other sources of applicable technologies.
  • Contribute to the packaging development for projects of all sizes.
  • Accountable for the creation and maintenance of the packaging specifications.
  • Organize and conducts trials in an industrial environment.
  • Ensure development of new technical & material concepts for packaging solutions via collaboration with internal and external experts

The base compensation range for this position is $80,000-100,000 commensurate with experience. About you

  • Bachelor degree minimum, Master degree in Sciences or Engineering ideal (Packaging, Mechanical, Chemical or related engineering science)
  • 2-5+ years experience in a packaging engineering field (preferably in the food or beverage industry)
  • Experience in tertiary packaging (corrugated, trays, films)
  • Experience in thermoforming, injection molding and extrusion blow molding
  • Experience with polyolefins (PE,PP,HDPE,PS), their properties and use as food containers
  • Knowledge in sachets, pouches and related flexible packaging
  • Experience in barriers properties of packaging materials
  • Experience in the use of statistical tools for problem solving
  • Technical expertise with paper-based packaging (corrugated, compact, liquid paper packaging)
  • Experience in low acid ESL and Aseptic food packaging
  • Understanding of cold chain distribution systems
  • Lateral thinking and problem solving
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross functional teams involving marketing, sales, purchasing and manufacturing in the development of new products
  • Excellent Project Management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter, autonomous and demonstrated ability to bring new unsolicited ideas and solutions to the table
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%
