About the job

As a communication intern, you will work with the senior strategic communications and events lead at the Research Center in Utrecht, The Netherlands. You will support efforts to enhance the visibility and impact of the Research Center among external and internal stakeholders by helping to implement the external communications strategy and creating communication campaigns and materials.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Support in finetuning and implementing the external communications strategy.
  • Collaborating with different stakeholders on our strategic communication plan.
  • Create and design visual communication for events and projects.
  • Support the development and implementation of different campaigns, exploring new creative ways to communicate and increase engagement.
  • Coordinate and organize events.

Your manager will be Marieke Schlager, Strategic Communications & Events Leader.

About you

You are a Bachelor/Master student in Communication, Marketing, Journalism, Psychology, Business Administration, Public Relations or HR. You have a strong affinity for communication, graphic designing and digital tools, storytelling. You have strong visual and video‑editing skills, and you’re confident working with tools like PowerPoint and Canva. You’re also well‑organized, proactive, and a team player who isn’t afraid to speak up and take the lead. 

  • Enrolled as a Bachelors/Master’s student during the whole internship period (if you are a non-EU citizen, you need to be enrolled at a Dutch university and provide a Nuffic Agreement).
  • You are available to start in April, May, or June; the start and end dates are flexible.
  • You are available for a minimum of 5–6 months, 4–5 days per week (hybrid).
  • You are fluent in English - oral and written.
  • You can travel to the office in Utrecht at least 2 times a week. 
  • Please note that you are required to relocate to the Netherlands (if abroad) for this internship and acquire a BSN.
