CONTEXT & CHALLENGES OF THE DEPARTMENT

Under the responsibility of the VP, Quality & Food Safety, Standards and Risk Management, the Mission is to leverage scientific, regulatory & technical expertise to drive QFS governance and compliance, delivering our promise to consumers and customers.  ​This is achieved through risk identification, assessment and end to end management, underpinned by a global QMS. ​

 The strategic imperatives of QFS, Standards and Risk Management are: 

• We safeguard Danone’s license to operate and reputation via a three-pronged strategy of Detect, Defend, and Drive.
• We are a team of experts in quality and food safety driving the design and delivery of Danone’s QMS and global policies and standards, providing a rigorous governance framework.
• We are covering the end-to-end value chain with risk identification, assessment, communication, mitigation, and escalation.
• To be at the forefront of QFS, scientific and regulatory thought leadership, we create and leverage robust networks of external partners, institutions, and associations.
• We drive the development and delivery of QFS training and practical onsite support through SME leadership, enabling business and animating the wider technical communities. 

The missions of General Population Product Categories team within QFS, Standards and Risk Management are to:

 Serve as the center of QFS expertise for the General Population product categories, defining Standards that are fit for purpose and are designed to protect consumers and Danone’s reputation. We support the business and our stakeholders in the end-to-end value chain with a risk-based focus and build QFS capabilities with tools and training.

JOB MISSION

To create QFS standards for innovation and sourcing for all general population categories products, and to translate Danone QFS requirements into the necessary set of instructions, tools and references to design and source safe products.

Others:

• to contribute to the deployment of FS culture across the organization
• to be the link between regional/local teams and SRM experts & product category teams to support risk management & due diligence
• to contribute to the building of QFS knowledge & competencies
• to mitigate the QFS risks to operate for Danone, ensuring that correct processes are implemented to prevent Danone from damageable risks

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver and maintain QFS Standards:
• • Define, review and update standards for the QFS evaluation of raw materials to enable innovation and sourcing.
  • Establish, review and update QFS criteria for raw materials according to the DFSC risk identification and characterization. 
  • Assist the QiS and C&P team regarding QFS requirements for raw materials and bring support to answer supplier inquiries.
• Oversight of innovation pipeline:
• • Support QFS risk analysis and risk mitigation recommendations/options for innovation projects.
  • Support the local project teams to solve concerns regarding QFS risks along the design process or related to raw materials.
  • Support management of emerging risks in sourcing and innovation.
• QFS Capabilities building:
• • Build and animate internal networks and external collaborations to roll out and capture the knowledge on the FSMS and QFS science & regulation linked to sourcing and innovation.
  • Support compliance through culture programs and training. Develop Training content.
  • Communicate efficiently the QFS standards to all relevant functions and levels in the organisation.

This job will require up to 10% of traveling.

MAIN RELATIONSHIPS

• QFS SRM: DFSC Microbiology, Chemical Safety, Scientific & Regulatory Affairs, QFS Compliance and Emerging Risk, Crisis/Incidents team, Quality Management Systems
• QFS: Regional and Local QFS teams, QFS in Sourcing, QFS in Design
• Other Danone: R&I, Operations, Global Engineering, C&P, FS Audit, Public Affairs
• EXTERNAL (potentially): Industry Associations, External laboratories, Scientific and Regulatory communities, consultants.

EDUCATION and PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

• A qualified manager with a minimum of 10 years combined industry and/or with at least 3 years of experience in food manufacturing/operations. With ability to act as the food safety representative & decision maker across a wide range of products.
• • Industry and types of companies: food manufacturing or catering
  • Types of previous jobs: quality, food safety or scientist in industry or another similar role.
• Higher Degree or Qualification in scientific discipline (e.g. in food chemistry, food technology, microbiology), Medical and Veterinary Sciences.

TECHNICAL

• Good knowledge in Food Safety hazards (pathogens, allergens, foreign objects, chemical).
• Knowledge in microbiology & chemistry applied to food (predictive model, challenge tests, fermentation, chemical contaminants, toxicology & risk assessment).
• Knowledge in Regulatory requirements & food law.
• Risk Analysis (HCP, Statistics, Sampling plans).
• Food Hygiene, GMP, FSSC 22 000 and related standards.
• Quality processes & management systems.
• Verbal & written communications (with technical and non-technical functions).
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• PC proficiency in windows-based applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Fluent in English, additional language nice to have (French and/or Spanish).
