We are currently looking to hire a Quality and Food Safety Manager of Industrialization, Sourcing and Design based Remotely!

 

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:

 

This position works within Danone’s Quality & Food Safety Department and cross functionally within the Supply Chain Organization.  The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure Quality and Food Safety standards are met through the review, validation, and approval of packaging, ingredients, and finished good specifications. This role will also advocate for quality and food safety on chartered projects by being the liaison between the QFS organization and other cross functional teams. These cross functional teams include, but are not limited to, Engineering, Commercialization, Industrialization, R&I, Regulatory, Legal, Project Management, Procurement, Operations, and Planning.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as Danone North America's (NORAM) Quality and Food Safety (QFS) single point of contact for the coordination, consultation, review, and approval of raw material (ingredient & packaging) & finished goods specifications
  • In partnership with R&I, execute document reviews, item code approvals and specification reviews and approvals focused on QFS responsibilities and attributes.
  • In partnership with R&I, provide training and direction to manufacturing plants, QFS teams, and other cross-functional groups on the specification approval processes and QFS standards
  • Lead the development of guidelines, standards, testing programs, and training materials related to QFS specification criteria for cross-functional departments, manufacturing plants, and QFS teams.
  • Create strong partnerships within all Danone QFS teams ensuring constant collaboration & communication.
  • Provide project status, risk, alerts, and action plan reports and communications to leaders and cross-functional colleagues both in NORAM and global teams
  • Act as the QFS lead on cross-functional project teams, representing all QFS departments for sourcing, innovation, renovation, productivity, and other company initiatives
  • Mitigate risk through the application of scientific principles, technical experience and deployment Danone Quality and Food Safety Standards
  • Collaborate with internal functions including Cycles & Procurement, Research & Innovation, Environmental Health and Safety, Sustainability, Regulatory, Legal, Food Safety, Project Management, Operations and Commercialization & Industrialization to deliver products to the market that meet Danone’s standards
  • Reporting and scorecard management
  • Assist with internal & 3rd party audit preparation and demonstrating compliance.
  • Identify & execute opportunities to lead change and improve ways of working.
  • Utilize Six Sigma, Lean, and/or other continuous improvement concepts to improve quality, efficiency, and waste
  • Support global and local Procurement and sales teams with data collection & reporting of QFS related information and communicating QFS standards.
  • Stay current with key regulatory and certifying agency guidelines and relevant Danone standards
  • All other duties as assigned

 

TRAVEL:  Estimated at 10%-25%

 

The base compensation range for this position is $70,000 - $105,000 commensurate with experience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science/Food Science/Technology or related discipline
  • 5+ years of combined experience with food, ingredients, quality or manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of Quality Systems, Food Safety, and Quality Assurance and current Food Regulations.
  • Basic understanding of plant production systems, manufacturing equipment, GMP, SPC, sanitation and EHS.
  • Experience working in a PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and/or other database style systems

  • Previous experience writing and approving specifications preferred

 

NONESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Trained in SQF or FSSC (GFSI) auditing schemes.
  • Experience managing external suppliers/co-manufacturers
  • Prior or present responsibility as QA Manager/Engineer for a food manufacturing facility
  • Working knowledge of SAP and/or similar ERP databases
  • Previous experience in Food or Food Packaging Research and Innovation
