As a Patent Engineer you will prepare patent files and protection topics by a pre-analysis, for efficient handling by a qualified patent attorney.

Together with the Patent Attorney and R&I, as a Patent Engineer you’ll build protection strategies for projects. You’ll play an important role in making the link between IP rights and commercial value while ensuring the right procedures are applied.

Depending on the experience, and under the guidance of a Patent Attorney, the Patent Engineer can support and prepare patent prosecution, opposition, freedom to operates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Patent Engineer responsibilities include the implementation of patent strategy of a product category or business line at global level. Your main tasks will include:

• Preparing patent files for efficient handling by patent attorney, including a preanalysis
• Supporting R&I and Patent attorney in building protection strategies
• Supporting business by providing portfolio overviews and competitor overview 
• Progressively supporting freedom to operate, prosecution, opposition
• Contributes to patent department visibility, being involved in devising and improving (patent) procedures within Danone
• Contributes to patent department organisation and data organisation on global level, including patent management system, patent budget management, request forms, procedures

• You have technical scientific knowledge on food products, composition and production; you have Master’s degree, preferably followed by PhD from technical university discipline
• You have basic Patent knowledge
• You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• You are fluent in English.
• You have the intention to grow the knowledge on patent law, and you’re interested in pursuing a patent attorney qualification.
