The Payroll Specialist – Canada is part of the Danone North America Payroll team. This person is responsible to process payroll for our employees in Canada (±600 employees) and will be responsible to execute the preparation, documentation, and collaboration of payroll duties in Canada.

Primary Responsibilities:

• In partnership with Dayforce Managed Services, process weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for ±600 employees in Canada.
• Ensure all transactions are accurately and properly recorded in order to deliver an accurate pay within the deadline.
• Conduct monthly, quarterly and year-end processes and reconciliations.
• Complete reconciliation and auditing of employee wages, payroll taxes, benefit deductions, garnishments and other payments assigned business units in collaboration with various groups including benefits, compensation, accounting and internal/external auditors.
• Monitor payroll operations, policies, and guidelines for execution of Canada payroll. Communicate procedures to various stakeholders as required.
• Provide input on key payroll continuous improvement projects.
• Collaborate with the Associate Manager of Payroll Operations to compile payroll statistics, maintain payroll control records, and assist with other special requests as required.
• Collaborate with the Canadian Human Resources team as required.
• Serve as point of contact for external agencies as required (i.e. CRA).
• Abide by and carry out the internal control standards in Canada, ensuring proper procedures, policies, and rules are applied to payroll activities.

• A minimum of 6 years of Canadian Payroll experience, Quebec preferred
• Required to be bilingual (English and French)
• Experience with administration of payroll across all provinces
• Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations in Canada, particularly in Quebec
• Strong understanding of payroll accounting principles required
• Strong working knowledge of all features within Excel
• Knowledge of the Dayforce system preferred
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong attention to detail with a mindset to continuously improve processes
• Excellent communication skills: writing and speaking with the employees of all levels and the ability to resolve issues timely
• Ability to work within tight deadlines as well as successfully prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
