Product Technologist – Specification & UX Assistant

Are you passionate about driving innovation in product development and ensuring top-notch quality in flavour renovation and UX research? Join our dynamic Melbourne based team as a Product Technologist – Specification & UX Assistant and become a key team player in shaping our future!

Reporting to the R&I and Sustainability Manager, you will support the business R&I strategy by managing flavour renovation/Design to Superior Value (DTSV) projects, facilitating UX research activities, and handling internal specifications. You will play a key role in product development projects from exploration to launch, ensuring the accuracy of ingredients and product specifications, and assisting with UX research under the guidance of the Zone UX-Category owner.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Support and manage product development projects like flavour rotation, Design to Superior Value, supply continuity, from concept to launch.
  • Provide technical input and validate product performance post-launch.
  • Support UX research using qualitative and quantitative methods and tools to meet business goals.
  • Assist in research execution and analysis, from monitoring to debriefing.
  • Support internal sensory testing, including data analysis and panel training.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support renovation and range extension initiatives with process understanding.
  • Manage and improve product specifications to ensure quality, efficiency, and supply security.
  • Maintain and review product portfolio data, ensuring accuracy and supporting range testing.
  • Drive knowledge sharing and collaboration across internal teams and external partners to support product excellence.

About you

You are a proactive and collaborative professional with a passion for product development and specification management. The ideal individual will bring technical expertise to support cross-functional projects, support UX and sensory research, and ensure compliance and quality across the value chain. You are skilled in maintaining accurate product data, driving continuous improvement, and fostering knowledge sharing both internally and with external partners to deliver consumer-preferred, high-quality products.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Food Science/Food Technology or related field. 
  • Prior experience in research & Innovation /Product Development in the Food/Dairy/FMCG industry.
  • Strong foundation in food science and technology, including ingredient functionality, food safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in product design and formulation, with understanding of shelf-life and process impacts on final products.
  • Skilled in sensory evaluation and user experience research to support the development of consumer-preferred products.
  • Proficient in data analysis and risk assessment, with strong computer, numeracy, and analytical skills.
