CONTEXT

The job is located in Gif sur Yvette (91) in the Worldwide R&I Center which is the heart of Research and Innovation in Danone (R&I). The center is a mix of analytical laboratories, pilot plants, packaging, formulation teams at the edge of sciences and technologies for our Waters and Dairy & Plant Based businesses.

This role is an exciting opportunity to join the Danone R&I Europe team (based in Paris Saclay and in 10 CBUs in Europe). The opportunities of this role lie in the ability to interface daily with a growing global business with world leading brands from the Danone portfolio.

You will be an active member of the dynamic User Experience community (more than 90 collaborators across the world), with sensory design and consumer understanding expertise, supporting product and packaging development teams to create consumer-relevant product experiences at CBU and Regional levels.

About you

YOUR ROLE

 

You will be part of the R&I Europe team whose mission is to create superior consumer value and to prepare the future by fueling the innovation, renovation, reformulation pipeline in line with consumer expectations, business opportunities and brand strategy.

The categories in scope are Dairy, Plant based, Aquadrinks and Natural mineral waters – with a more specific focus on one brand in Dairy.

More specifically, you will join the UX Europe team, whose mission is to deeply decode and translate consumer experience into insights. This team aims to create scale & amplify impact of UX deliverables, drive user centric R&I EU transformation​, generate new insights across EU and bring & leverage inspiration.

 

You will report to the UX EU Brand lead & Superiority Program leader.

 

YOUR KEY MISSIONS

This role encompasses 2 engaging and thrilling missions, at the service of both a Brand and as a Gate Keeper of the Superiority program for the whole UX Europe community.

 

  1. Frame and execute sensory and consumer learning plan to uncover deep, actionable insights for a key Danone brand
    • Responsible for building the learning roadmap of the brand, in collaboration with marketing and SIA (Strategy Insight & Analytics, UX equivalent for brand & insights). This includes all innovations, renovations, and Fuel for Growth initiatives.
    • Lead competitive benchmarking and gain a deep understanding of key competitors and market trends: product and packaging, nutrition, and communication.
    • Define consumer brief with relevant sensory and consumer learnings and the right Action Standard, in collaboration with Development team and local R&I teams.
    • Lead the setup and follow-up of quantitative and/or qualitative studies: brief (and its validation with the relevant community), study execution, questionnaire, timeline, logistics, and support for understanding and deploying results within the brand scope.
    • Take responsibility for the final communication, recipe and packaging developed by the development team and the project team, ensuring delivery aligns with the brief.
    • Lead targeted product tasting sessions for sensory team evaluation.
  1. Act as Gate Keeper of Superiority Program for EU UX community
    • Fuel and monitor consistency of approaches and high-quality deliverables of superiority tests, working in close contact with UX brand leads & IDDC / CBU partners - framing, methodology, protocol, output
    • Coordinate the superiority program external eco-system, with focus on partnership with our Superiority agencies.
    • Amplify, systematize, simplify current capability and ways of working to ensure smooth and efficient running
    • Evolve & roll out methodology adaptation (design, questionnaire …)
    • Lead spotted transversal topics to uncover insights through meta-analysis & connecting the dots with other data sources (conso & senso tests, social listening, reviews & ratings…)

YOUR ASSETS

  • More than 8 years in Consumer research and Sensory design (FMCG, Agency, Flavors-fragrance business)
  • Food engineer degree or master’s degree in Consumer & Sensory related sciences
  • Expert in consumer (qualitative and quantitative) approach and tools / Good knowledge in sensory tools and tasting
  • Consumer / Sensory applied statistics knowledge
  • You work and communicate fluently in English, and preferably in French too - International experience is a bonus

  • Solid experience of collaborative working (incl. with cross-functional teams), with good leadership and inter-personal skills for dealing with and influencing a variety of people (profile and seniority level)
  • Business and results oriented, demonstrating insight mindset (ability to integrate various source of data, connect the dots and bring meaning, make data actionable)
  • Curious and ability to voice data-based convictions, and drive the right discussion – constructively challenging the status quo
  • Self-starter, able to quickly understand objectives and independently manage the delivery of recommendations
  • Flexibility & quick adaptation
  • Passion for food product, formulation, and pack, and for bringing consumer voice into the business
  • Project management skills in a matrix operating environment
