ABOUT THE JOB

We are currently looking for a Formulation Technologist to join our team in Balclutha. This position offers the right candidate an excellent opportunity to manage their own territory, with the support of the Product Change and Formulations Team. You will support the safe delivery of Infant Formula products via formulations development, in line with the manufacturing conditions of the Danone Balclutha factory operations. This is a technical, detail-oriented position with focus on decision-making through data analysis.

This is a 18 month Fixed-Term full-time position working Monday– Friday between 8.00am and 4:30pm, with weekly on-call responsibility.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Deliver safe, high-quality, in-specification nutritional formulations for Danone Balclutha operations and adapt nutritional formulations to manage milk and ingredient variability
• Maintain the integrity of formulations templates and source data to ensure high quality formulations
• Support Manufacturing, Quality, technical teams to achieve best-practice delivery of nutritional formulations and specialty milk management
• Work in connection with the R&I team in Auckland to ensure recipe development follows base powder project specifications
• Provide technical training for operational teams & support staff

ABOUT YOU

You will have a tertiary qualification in Food Technology, Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent. You are self-motivated, thrive in a detail-focused environment and enjoy taking ownership of your work.

To be successful in this role, you will also have:

• Experience in a food manufacturing environment and good understanding of basic chemistry / food processing, exposure to dairy formulations is advantageous
• Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel skill
• Excellent attention to details with strong decision-making ability
• Good initiative and ability to work without supervision
• Strong communication skill and willingness to help others
