At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. Our yogurt manufacturing plant in Minster, Ohio is currently looking to hire a Shift Lead in our Distribution Cooler to support night shift operations. 

 

The primary responsibility of the Distribution Shift Lead is to effectively lead shift activities and employees in the Distribution department. The Shift Lead will help ensure that products are staged and shipped in line with safety, quality, and performance standards. A key component to this role is to lead shift performance and drive efficiencies, productivities, and KPI’s within the department.  The Distribution Shift Lead reports to the Flow Supervisor.

 

Specific Job Duties & Tasks:

  • Ensure that area performance meets established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This includes the coaching of team members in meeting objectives.
  • Ensure development of competencies and skills amongst the team.
  • Lead and participate in departmental continuous improvement activities.
  • Assess and develop actions to improve safety in the area and the plant.
  • Ensure adherence to plant standards (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, Continuous Improvement, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO)
  • Lead shift communications
  • Key user for WMS system Korber, Uber Freight TMS, Chep portfolio, and SAP.
  • Manage inventory control activities including disposition of damaged and obsolete materials
  • Coordinate daily Distribution shipment activities including dock management, labor assignment and priority, and shipping documentation.
  • Manage hold and release products per QA Department direction
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge
    • Good computer knowledge and skills (Experience with SAP, Lean Logistics, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Skills
    • Exceptional verbal/written communication skills including ability to write reports, and standard operating procedures
    • The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
    • Leadership, interpersonal and communication skills required to interact with all levels of plant personnel.
    • The ability to stay organized but yet be adaptable and flexible
  • Abilities
    • Self-motivated and a self-starter
    • Critical thinking
    • The ability to maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm.
    • The ability to serve as a change agent who is able to "make it happen" while building positive relationships on a foundation of trust and mutual respect.
    • Can challenge the status quo

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or related field
  • Two to three years of experience in a material and inventory movement, warehouse or distribution environment
  • Experience in a continuous improvement environment (Lean, TPM, AM, etc.)
