Job Summary

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams.   We are currently looking to hire a Warehouse Operator based in West Jordan, UT!

 

As a Warehouse Operator, you will support the yogurt manufacturing plant in either the dry materials warehouse, where raw materials are received, stored, and distributed, or in a refrigerated warehouse, where finished product is stored or loaded on to trucks for shipment. This position will require you to operate a forklift. Warehouse Operators work on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule. Day shift will be scheduled 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM and night shift will be scheduled 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM. Work schedules may include nights, weekends, and/or holidays to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

As a key member of our team, you will play an important role in driving our mission forward. The following responsibilities outline the core expectations and contributions for this position:

  • Operating powered industrial trucks (i.e., forklifts) to:
    • Stack, store, move, pull and/or prepare raw materials, finished goods, and used materials within and between departments or into and out of coolers.
    • Loading/unloading trailers safely and efficiently.
    • Ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Ensuring inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free from damage and reporting quality concerns.
  • Entering and extracting information from warehouse management system programs.
  • Reading and interpreting documents related to safety, equipment operations and maintenance, instructions, procedure manuals, written communication, and routine reports including completing daily paperwork, as required.
  • Performing daily pre-operational checks on all material handling equipment, maintaining equipment, and organizing materials according to standards.
  • Using Radio-Frequency equipment for receiving, put-away, and loading functions as required.
  • Conducting operations in a manner that promotes safety, and complying with OSHA and MSDS standards, area SOP’s, QAR’s, plant rules, and ISO standards.
  • Maintaining a clean work area through daily sanitation.
  • Completing any other duties, as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this position, you will frequently be:
  • Standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, bending and stooping (at waist level), kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting (at waist level and at the neck).
  • Tasting, smelling, seeing (including colors), speaking, and hearing, within a normal range to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports and results.
  • Using fine motor skills to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, and controls.
  • Regularly enduring repetitive lifting, from 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., and occasional team lifting or more than 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally climbing stairs, step ladders, or stools.
  • Working up to 12-hour shifts in production areas with a usually moderate noise level.

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, you will:
  • Work will be performed in a manufacturing environment with usually moderate noise levels and will involve standing/walking on a concrete surface for the duration of your shift.
  • Regularly working indoors, near moving mechanical parts and will be regularly exposed to cold, wet, and/or humid conditions, as well as going outdoors (infrequently).
  • Occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and may be exposed to loud noises in the plant.
  • Occasionally work in high, precarious places and may be exposed to extreme cold, the risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

Engagement in our Integrated Work Systems

Ensure adherence to plant standards and procedures (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, HOPE, Danone Behaviors, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE). As a fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate and own the implementation and deployment of IWS system and its pillars (Leadership foundation, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE; Autonomous Maintenance; planned Maintenance; Focused Improvement; Education and Training; Environmental, Health and Safety; Quality; Organization; Supply Network; Early Equipment Management) with the objective of owning your space, owning your performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and owning your continuous improvement.    

 

Compensation & Benefits:

Base compensation for this position is $23.48/hr. with an additional $1.25/hr. shift differential when working night shift. Upon the successful completion of a 90-day probation period, your base compensation will increase to $26.09/hr. with an additional $1.25/hr. shift differential when working night shift.

About you

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of education, experience, and skills that enable them to excel in this position. The following qualifications outline what we’re looking for, including both required and preferred criteria:

 

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1+ years of experience in a warehouse is preferred.
  • 1+ years of forklift experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Read and write, interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Comprehend basic math and simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Understand and carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Operate powered industrial trucks and navigate in tight spaces and high-traffic areas in a fast-paced environment.
  • Operate a computer to enter and retrieve data.
  • Prepare and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees within the organization.
