About the job

We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Plant Controller based in Auckland. This is an 8-month FTC Maternity Leave cover responsible to provide financial support to our Balclutha Spray Dryer plant team. You will assist the plant leadership and operational team with day-to-day accounting, budgeting, and reporting responsibilities, including month-end reporting and providing business insights to support decision-making.

Reporting to the Factory Controlling Manager, you will support the Balclutha plant in developing and delivering short-term and long-term financial strategies.  

You will:

  • Timely and accurate reporting of performance results to region / global
  • Preparation of financial reporting pack for spray dryer performance for site Leadership Team
  • Design and submit annual budgets and latest estimates in line with group requirements
  • Manage quarterly full forecasting of Site P&L, and identify key gap KPI analysis vs budgets
  • Assist the wider team in visibility and detailed analysis of material price variances vs budget to support the Materials Controller
  • Support and assist Factory Controlling Manager Co-ordinate productivity project reporting
  • Drive accountability and cost-consciousness mindset in the business
  • Ensure liaison and coordination with internal plant stakeholders for regular updates and reporting

About you

You are a seasoned Accounts/Finance professional with an unwavering passion for numbers and reporting. Your prior experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment, coupled with your exceptional stakeholder engagement and influential skills, sets you apart. You thrive in collaborative settings, bringing a proactive and efficient communication style to the table. Your ability to take ownership and act with speed, agility, and pragmatism ensures your success in this role. Additionally, you are comfortable with occasional travel to our Balclutha plant, embracing the opportunity to make a tangible impact.

To be successful you will also have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance/Commerce/CA/CPA or Accounting
  • You could be working towards your CA or CPA with prior work experience in accounting
  • Prior experience in FMCG Manufacturing is preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with both Finance and Operational stakeholders
  • Strong reporting, management accounting, budgeting, variance analysis, and presentation skills
  • Sound IT skills with competence in working on Excel
  • Prior experience with SAP will be advantageous
  • Good project management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organization skills with an ability to work with shifting priorities
