Project description:
Critically analyse product change-overs of various Infant Formula recipes on the Blend & Pack line in factory Haps and define improvements to reduce carry-over of nutrients and therefore reduce out of specification (OOS) incidents.
Background:
The product portfolio in Haps consists of diverse type of Infant Formula recipes. When changing over from one type of product to the other OOS are re-occurring in specific batches due to carry-over of nutrients.
These batches show a result in the first can which is outside Danone limits. The Right First Time of these batches is at risk as the OOS triggers extra testing and a root cause investigation and therefore block the release. The extra actions influence the release flow, need extra resources and have an impact on recipe compliance and costs.
Task within this project is to indicate structural OOS for carry over of specific nutrients (Iron and Zinc) and Streptococcus thermophilus (probiotic) via data-analysis and labtesting, investigate them and define corrective actions for the factory in Haps.
Main Question:
How can Danone Nutricia in Haps limit carry-over of nutrients and increase spec compliance when having a Run to Empty cleaning between different recipes on the Blend & Pack line without increasing cleaning time?
Objective:
Objective of the project is to gain more knowledge on the factors that contribute to the carry-over of specific nutrients (Iron and Zinc) and Streptococcus thermophilus (probiotic) and build a rationale for the corrective actions needed to prevent excessive carry-over to the next batch.
Deliverables:
Student HBO or University Food Science & Technology, Food & Business or comparable study. You are pro-active, have good communication skills and a teamplayer, but can also work independently on a task. You are fluent in English - spoken and written. Knowledge of Dutch is preferred.
