ABOUT THE JOB:

 

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are currently looking to hire a Production Director based in Fort Worth, Texas!    In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations and directly supervise work of all plant department leaders. Work closely with the plant director to direct and manage the day-to-day operations of the facility. Coordinate the activities of the manufacturing facilities of the plant to ensure customer orders are received; scheduled and produced, to utilize plant capacities and optimize manufacturing costs and quality safely and effectively.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Provide sound administrative direction of subordinate departments including Production, Purchasing, and others to ensure that objectives and goals are met and that employees are managed effectively
  • Responsible and accountable for production facilities quality compliance, efficiencies, overhead, packaging and ingredients, operational budget, and profit and loss statements.
  • Drive performance of DDS and CIL.
  • Coach and counsel leaders using IWS principles. Works with this focus to define plant goals and plans to meet these goals with this group.
  • Create, develop, and sustain a “can-do” climate and high levels of frequent communication, cooperation, rewards and recognition, training, and mutual support among departments.
  • Demonstrate an adequate understanding of plant machinery; equipment; processing; blending; extraction; shelf-stable products, quality, and/or other requisite technical knowledge to engage in overall direction, meaningful conversation across functions, and leadership of managers across the plant.
  • Demonstrate clear integrity and a sense of ethics and responsibility to the plant and its employees daily, serving as a role-model for others.
  • Respond effectively and work cross-functionally within the organization particularly with other plants and corporate leadership.
  • Effectively partner with Human Resources and others in a union environment
  • Perform in a variety of capacities related to employment decisions throughout the employment life cycle.  i.e., hiring, performance evaluation, retention, employee relations issues as appropriate etc.
  • Understand and manage as appropriate capital project expenditures and/or the implementation of capital projects
  • Effectively implement, improve, and reinforce the company’s environmental health and safety programs and product food safety programs.

IWS

Ensure adherence to plant standards (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, CODES, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE).  As fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate and own the implementation and development of Integrated Work Systems (IWS) and its pillars (Leadership, Loss Elimination, Progressive Maintenance, Education & Training, Supply Network, Initiative Management, Quality, Environmental Health and Safety, Autonomous Maintenance, Organization) with the objective of owning your space, owning your performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and 100% Ownership and Zero Loss.

About you

ABOUT YOU:

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • College degree and or equivalent experience required – preferable in engineering, business, food science or related field.
  • 8-10 years operational and management experience in a food/beverage production environment, required. 
  • 2+ years UHT dairy processing experience a plus
  • Familiar with how basic plant equipment functions (pumps, hydraulics, electricity, boiler, compressors, chillers etc.)
  • Prior consumer packaging experience required
  • Planning, scheduling, and project management experience necessary

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize plant operations in light of multiple priorities and conflicting demands.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP’s - to include regulations which govern food products
  • Familiar with TQM and or statistical process control concepts
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures regarding chemicals, equipment/machinery
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent negotiation skills. - including an ability to understand sensitive situations
  • Engaged leadership style that develops leader
  • Team player with an ability to lead and participate in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to support 24/7 operation environment.  Work schedules could include days/nights/weekends as business needs dictate.

Physical Requirements: Ability to travel to all areas in the facility which may require climbing, ascending, and descending stairs, and traveling long distances, as required. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Ability to respond to audible and visual alarms. Ability to communicate verbally and in written form.
