Raw Material Lead Specialist - Minster

About the job

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We have an opening for a Raw Material Lead Specialist in our Minster, Ohio yogurt manufacturing facility. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the Supplier Quality program at the site will be the first point of contact for Raw Material Support Specialists.  This role is critical to ensure our materials arrive in specification to avoid production losses and product holds.  You will partner with Minster operations, Danone corporate supplier quality, and suppliers to assist raw material quality improvement.

 

 

In this role, you will:

  • Provide support with review of non-conforming materials, including placing materials on hold, collect and analyze samples, and determining raw material disposition.
  • Issue and manage Quality Notifications (QNs) to suppliers. 
    • Hold suppliers accountable to find Assist with root cause analysis and identify suggest corrective actions and preventive actions for non-conformities.
    • Through the use of QN database in SAP and other databases, track QNs and claims
    • Work with finance on claim reimbursement
  • Partner with operations teams in an effort to provide support to understand drivers of holds and lost time caused by raw materials.  Provide feedback to operations teams about status of QNs and efficacy of improvement initiatives. 
  • Partner with operations teams to assist with performing focused improvements (FI) activities related to raw materials and suppliers.
  • Review & approve raw material specifications.
  • Partner with sister plants and corporate supplier quality to assist with driving supplier quality improvement.
  • Participate in the Danone Supplier Quality 5-Star program and Show Me the QN program.
  • Coordinate vendor visits on-site as well as on-site visits to vendors.
  • Provide support of project launches for of newly reformulated products.
  • Provide support for internal/external audits and lead Perform traceability exercises for raw materials.
  • Support the update of SOPs and QARs and cascade to other members of the Raw Materials Support Specialist team.
  • Perform all other assigned tasks/duties.

About you

  • You have an associate degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field, required.   Equivalent work experience to constitute completed degree will be considered. 
  • You have 5+ years of food manufacturing experience, required.  Prior experience in a yogurt manufacturing environment is preferred. 
  • You have excellent communication (verbal, written) and time management skills. 
  • You are adaptable and flexible and demonstrate patience, persistence, and resilience
  • You are organized and have the ability to work under deadlines, with multiple priorities and tolerate stress, have a strong work ethic and keen awareness to detail.
  • You have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving experience.
  • You are proficient in the use of MS office Programs, and have ability to navigate other software programs such as SAP, Power BI. 
  • You have demonstrated ability to work independently and with work cross-functional teams.
  • You are willing and able to work flexible schedules as needed to support 7-day per week, 24-hour per day production facilities.
  • You have the ability to travel up to 10%.
