At Danone Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. 

We have an opening for a Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist based in our Dallas, TX manufacturing facility.  This position is responsible for the development and execution of programs to ensure that the Company provides a safe workplace for employees and minimizes impacts to the environment.  This position will lead compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.  The incumbent will implement a sustainable environmental, health and safety management system at a plant level and drive EHS performance improvement and efficiency.  This position will participate in the Danone EHS Leadership Network.
 
The incumbent is successful through strong leadership, vision, and effective management and ensure these goals in a professional atmosphere that enhances Company economic viability.
 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Research safety and environmental regulations and provide support for compliance
  • Participate in EHS compliance and management system inspections
  • Oversee Workers Compensation claims and work with case managers on claim management and plan of action
  • Supports the Plant Director or Plant EHS Manager in the development of EHS policies, standards and procedures based on regulatory and internal requirements
  • Collaborate and lead cross functionally on the development and integration of safety and environmental programs and capital projects to ensure timely execution
  • Lead and support improvements in safety (WISE2) and sustainability culture and performance
  • Manage data collection and analysis of EHS metrics and reports including; injury and illness, air, waste, energy and water data
  • Prepare government reports and permits/certifications
  • Serve as the plant Administrator of EHS Exchange and other data management systems
  • Assist with preparation of environmental government reports and permits/certifications
  • Participate or lead EHS projects to support energy conservation, best practices, lean and six-sigma 
  • Chair safety committees and design and implement safety awareness programs
  • Conduct and mentor employees in behavior-based safety observations
  • Establish and Lead emergency response & evacuation planning
  • Lead  and train others on job safety analysis and risk assessments
  • Create and deliver EHS training programs. Serve as a Train the Trainer
  • Assist with management of EHS recordkeeping
  • Lead creation and deployment of site level EHS communications
  • Support Workers Compensation claims and work with case managers on claim management and plan of action
  • Collaborates with plant leadership relative to light duty opportunities and/or modified work, if available

About you

Preferred Candidate Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelors or Masters in Safety Environmental Health, Chemistry, or related field 
  • Must be knowledgeable with OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Must be knowledgeable with California regulatory requirements
  • Must have 5 -10 years of EHS experience in industry

  • Excellent organization, recordkeeping, and documentation skills
  • Solid computer skills are essential
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Management of multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
  • Interface closely with all levels of the plant and Corporate EHS
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and in meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to remain flexible to support plant safety needs and EHS priorities.
  • Ability to remain positive and contribute solutions and ideas.
  • Ability to practice diplomacy, compassion, and respect.
  • Strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills.
