As part of our international Clinical Research function, the Senior Medical Monitor has a pivotal role in ensuring participant safety, shaping medical‑safety strategy, and contributing to globally impactful nutrition science.

About the role

As a Senior Medical Monitor, you serve as an expert medical safety leader. You oversee complex clinical studies, act as an escalation point for junior team members, lead safety governance, and provide advanced medical judgment in safety evaluations. You influence safety strategy, represent Medical Safety in cross‑functional forums, and contribute to continuously improving clinical safety processes across the organization.

This role combines medical oversight, strategic influence, and matrix-level cross‑functional leadership, providing a unique opportunity to shape the safety and development of Danone’s global nutrition portfolio.

Key Responsibilities & Impact Areas

• Represent Medical Safety in strategic forums and global project teams, contributing medical insight to program decisions.
• Provide expert medical oversight across multiple complex clinical studies, ensuring medical scientific integrity and participant safety
• Co-writes, reviews, and approves core clinical documents (protocols, product information, safety reports, study reports) from a medical and safety perspective.
• Perform medical monitoring activities, ensuring protocol adherence, GCP compliance, and high-quality execution across studies.
• Evaluate complex SAEs, providing clear medical judgement on causality, expectedness, and risk impact.
• Lead safety governance, including cross-functional safety reviews and proactive risk-mitigation actions
• Ensure alignment with senior internal and external stakeholders (including investigators, contract research organisations, and other partners) to support high-quality medical execution.
• Drive continuous improvement of safety evaluation processes, implementing new methodologies, and staying current with evolving regulations, guidelines, and scientific developments
• Mentor and guide cross-functional teams, fostering clinical safety principles and best practices.

We welcome applicants who bring strong medical and clinical‑research experience and are motivated to grow within nutritional clinical development.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A Medical Doctor's (MD) degree
• A solid clinical background, either through direct patient care experience or through continuous medical education ensuring current clinical knowledge.
• Significant experience in international clinical research, ideally in medical monitoring, clinical safety, or related areas.
• Experience in nutrition or therapeutic areas related to Danone’s product portfolio is a plus.
• Deep knowledge of ICH-GCP, clinical-trial methodology, safety signal detection, and regulatory expectations.

• Proven ability to collaborate and influence senior cross-functional stakeholders in a global matrix environment.  
• Confidence working with digital tools, data‑driven safety evaluation, and emerging technologies.
• Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate complex clinical information clearly.
