Utrecht/Hybrid
Do you love exploring how proteins behave under different processing conditions? Are you a curious and analytical student passionate about chemistry, biochemistry, or molecular modelling? Then apply now and join us as our new Protein Functionality & Processing Internship starting February 2026!
In this internship, you will be part of the Protein Science & Processing team, within our R&D or Product Development category. Our purpose is to deepen our understanding of protein functionality and its impact on product characteristics. During this internship, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and support initiatives that combine lab-based analytics with computational modelling.
Your main responsibilities include:
Consolidating historical data and mapping key processes and ingredients across production routes.
Performing analytical characterization of samples (e.g., particle size, viscosity, rheology, stability) and linking results to protein composition and processing effects.
Applying molecular modelling techniques to explore structural changes in proteins and their functional implications.
Supporting decision-making by interpreting analytical and modelling data to improve product functionality and stability.
Meet your future manager!
Your manager will be Panos Petris, Sr Computational chemist.
As a Protein Functionality Intern, scientific curiosity and precision will be second nature to you. You can work with complex datasets, perform lab-based analysis, and apply modelling techniques to uncover insights. On top of that? You’re an analytical thinker with a collaborative mindset, always eager to learn and contribute to innovative research.
