In this role, you will be responsible for: 

 

This role will oversee manufacturing maintenance and reliability operations and directly manage adherence to standards of work in maintenance, automation, and reliability teams. Work closely with the plant director to direct and manage the support of day-to-day operation of the facility, ensuring a reliable operation. Coordinate the activities of the manufacturing facilities technical resources to ensure customer orders are received, scheduled, and produced safely and reliably, utilizing plant capacities and optimizing manufacturing costs, quality and safety effectively.

 

Key Responsibilities

As a key member of our team, you will play an important role in driving our mission forward. The following responsibilities outline the core expectations and contributions for this position:

  • Create, develop, and sustain a Spare Parts Stocking Strategy, including stock room management, parts kitting programs, and deployment of preventive and predictive tools.
  • Demonstrate MP&S leadership, R&M Cost Execution, PM Pillar/IWS Leadership.
  • Demonstrate loss analysis, breakdown analysis, vendor management, mechanic development, and automation Leadership.
  • Create, develop, and sustain programs for lubrication, utility system management (boilers, refrigeration, air compressors, water, electric systems) and maintenance safety (confined space, arch flash, etc).
  • Provide sound administrative direction of subordinate departments including Maintenance, Purchasing, Infrastructure and Controls and others to ensure that objectives and goals are met and that employees are managed effectively
  • Partner with engineering in the development of the BU and site technical masterplan, including the development and execution of the 3–5-year capital plan.
  • Drive technical solutions and provide leadership/direction to project management teams/managers responsible for development and execution of project scope, cost, and schedule (from concept to initial production) of multi-discipline capital programs and projects.
  • Direct and control the deployment of innovation, capital programs and projects for the site to improve performance in the areas of product quality, productivity, and capacity.
  • Play a lead role in ensuring the BU and Supply Chain delivers against critical objectives such as sustainability targets, improving overall reliability, reducing waste, improvements to quality and safety KPI’s, unlocking capacity and capability while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible for technical and professional development of the members of the Reliability Leaders and BU technical team.
  • Provides thought leadership and support withing the BU and Technical organization to drive consistency and standardization throughout the Supply Chain and Technical Operations throughout the site while also supporting the network.  
  • Create, develop, and sustain a “can-do” climate and high levels of frequent communication, cooperation, rewards and recognition, training, and mutual support among departments.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise of plant machinery; equipment; processing; blending; extraction; shelf-stable products, quality, and/or other requisite technical knowledge to engage in overall direction, meaningful conversation across functions, and leadership of managers across the plant.
  • Demonstrate clear integrity and a sense of ethics and responsibility to the plant and its employees daily, serving as a role-model for others. 
  • Respond effectively and work cross-functionally within the organization particularly with other plants and corporate leadership.
  • Effective partner with Human Resources and others in a union environment
  • Perform in a variety of capacities related to employment decisions throughout the employment life cycle.  i.e., hiring, performance evaluation, retention, employee relations issues as appropriate etc.
  • Effectively implement, improve, and reinforce the company’s environmental health and safety programs and product food safety programs.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to travel to all areas in the facility which may require climbing, ascending, and descending stairs, and traveling long distances, as required.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Ability to respond to audible and visual alarms. Ability to communicate verbally and in written form.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and may be exposed to loud noises in the plant.  The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, risk of electrical shock and vibration.

Ensure adherence to plant standards and procedures (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, HOPE, Danone Behaviors, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE). As a fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate and own the implementation and deployment of IWS system and its pillars (Leadership foundation, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE; Autonomous Maintenance; planned Maintenance; Focused Improvement; Education and Training; Environmental, Health and Safety; Quality; Organization; Supply Network; Early Equipment Management) with the objective of owning your space, owning your performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and owning your continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of education, experience, and skills that enable them to excel in this position. The following qualifications outline what we’re looking for, including both required and preferred criteria:

 

Education & Experience:

  • B.S. degree in an Engineering discipline or a similar technical degree (Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical preferred). Advanced degree preferred. 
  • 5-8 years operational and management experience in food manufacturing, serving in an operation or technical capacity required, 10+ years preferred.
  • Formal project management training or certifications preferred. Experience in leading and managing technical disciplines and budgets in a medium-site manufacturing organization is essential.  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be a highly effective program and capital project manager with experience managing complex initiatives across multiple sites.
  • Operational expertise with TPM principles (i.e., pillars, systems, and standard work) is highly desired.
  • Strong background in driving performance through improvements in reliability, reduction in losses, etc. via non-capital-intensive measures.
  • Adept at working in traditional Engineering and Maintenance support programs such as AutoCAD, MS Project, SAP PM (or equivalent CMMS)
  • Experience in developing individuals and teams to drive high performance.
