We have a fantastic career opportunity to develop your technical and interpersonal skills in our Microbiology Team as a QC Analyst on a fixed-term contract for 6 months.

Our Quality Laboratory at Nutricia Liverpool plays a key role in supporting the manufacture and release of safe, high-quality products. The team is responsible for routine laboratory testing, ensuring that testing is completed accurately, on time and in accordance with approved procedures, GMP and GLP requirements. Given that Nutricia products are used by vulnerable consumer groups, the QC team has an important role in protecting product quality and ultimately consumer safety.

The successful candidate will work closely as part of a flexible and collaborative team, developing strong communication and teamwork skills while gaining hands-on experience across a range of microbiological testing methods.

Your key duties will include:

On a day to day basis, you will work as part of the Microbiology Laboratory team, carrying out a variety of routine testing activities to help ensure products and the manufacturing environment meet the required quality and food safety standards.

The role will involve preparing samples and laboratory media, plating and testing samples, reading and recording results, and carrying out microbiological testing for organisms such as Salmonella, Listeria, Cronobacter and Enterobacteriaceae. You will also support environmental monitoring activities, including testing swabs and air/settle plates collected from the laboratory and manufacturing environment.

Alongside testing, you will help maintain the laboratory by completing routine equipment checks and calibrations, safely discarding samples and ensuring work is completed accurately, safely and within the required timescales.

By working flexibly as part of a fast-paced laboratory team, you will help provide reliable microbiological results that support product quality, food safety and ultimately the protection of Nutricia consumers.

• Relevant scientific qualification or equivalent practical laboratory experience
• Good analytical and technical capability
• Ability to follow written procedures accurately and work within a controlled laboratory environment
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and ensure accurate reporting of results
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a busy, target-driven environment
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to learn, develop and contribute to continuous improvement
• Good written and spoken English

Ideally you will have a background in food and beverage, pharmaceutical, healthcare, contract testing or other regulated laboratory environments. 

This is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to work flexibly as part of a collaborative laboratory team while developing practical experience across a range of microbiological testing methods.
