The mission of this role is to deliver world class maintenance and engineering to the Kettering site through integral training and upskilling of employees.

 

The Job holder will attend further education externally to qualify to engineering standard of NVQ level 3 in either mechanical or electrical principle, and will complete on the job training next to our team of qualified engineers.

 

The job holder will have responsibilities and involvement in the three key areas as listed below:

 

Utilities:
Servicing and maintaining the Utilities, including air compressors, refrigeration, boilers, cooling towers, air handling units, water treatment plant – this list is not exhaustive.

 

Waste Water Treatment Plant:

Servicing and maintaining the waste water treatment plant, associated equipment, MBR plant and water reuse system, as a support to our external supplier

 

General Site Services and Utilities

Servicing and maintaining, all aspects of Facility and Utilities around the Kettering site as per the MPS schedules.

Criteria for assessing results

Utilities:

-    Meter reading

-    Daily liaison with suppliers for utilities upkeep

-    Daily utility checks and analysis

-    Daily update utilities service schedule

-    Daily boiler checks

-    Weekly utilities checks

-    Boiler Operation in accordance with BOAS

-    Absorption chiller operation checks

-    Compliance checks

-    MBR & RO Plant Operation

-    Water Softening Plant

-    Cooling Tower Operation

-    Legionella Controls

 

-    Timeliness and completeness of inspections.

-    Accuracy of findings and reports.

-    Correctness of executed repairs and corrections.

Waste Water Treatment Plant

-    Waste water treatment plant support to carry out laboratory analysis as required.

-    Develop relationship with contractors to ensure support is maintained for plant operation.

-    Chemical stock level checks and reordering

-    Calling in waste sludge contractor to empty the waste tanks

 

-    Quality of maintenance works.

-    Quality of repairs. 

-    Satisfaction of internal customer. 

-    Ability to read technical guidelines/manuals etc.

 

 

General Site Services

 -  Carry out investigations and repairs identified   by Site Service Team

 - Carry out weekly, monthly, quarterly PPM to the plant equipment and process

-   Weekly fire alarm testing and recording

-   Daily site repairs

-   Weekly sprinkler tests and logging

-   Monthly domestic water temperature testing

-   Monthly meter readings

-    Weekly compliance checks & tests

-    Correct diagnoses of the cause of failures.

-    Quality of Repairs. 

-    Speed and reliability of

Repairs.

-    Satisfaction of internal customer.

-    Timeliness of engaging other professional disciplines.

WORK-RELATED IMPEDIMENTS

 

  • COSHH: Risk of injury or irritation when working with chemicals during a limited part of the day (splashes of peroxide, lye, acid, etc.).
  • Working at height: Risk of falling during the use of ladders, platforms, scissor lifts and steps during operation, checking or cleaning of equipment.
  • Risk of injuries due to falling, slipping and/or slipping tools or when getting entrapped and/or by touching moving or live parts of equipment/installations.
  • Manual Handling: Strenuous postures (standing and walking) during the execution of works spread over different areas located at a considerable distance from one another during a limited part of the day.
  • Noise at Work: Risk of nuisance / noise induced hearing loss caused by machine noise during a limited part of the day.
  • Stress & Wellbeing: Risk of anxiety/stress caused by increased pressure of work following unexpected events that have an impact on the performance of machine reliability during part of the day.
  • Adverse temperature in the workplace: Risk of ill health or discomfort when working in high or low temperature environments during a limited part of the day, with the reliance to wearing thermal PPE to counteract the negative effects of cold.
  • PPE: Reliance on PPE to control workplace hazards (during a limited part of the day) or failure by employees and managers to effectively manage PPE requirements that could result in injury or long term ill health.
  • Display screen equipment (DSE): Muscle and posture strain due to DSE ​​work during very limited part of the day.
  • Dust in the workplace: nuisance caused by dust during part of the day.
  • Risk of burns when working near hot steam pipelines.
  • Slips, trips and falls: The role involves visiting all areas of the site at various levels and in conditions where machines have failed. This means that processing materials, or maintenance materials (e.g. oils) may have been spilled on floors.

A propos de vous

Candidate profile

Knowledge

Utilities:

  • Sufficient experience in a similar environment.
  • Desirable experience working with steam boilers operating at 15 bar, air compressors, boiler water treatment and water softening plant.
  • Refrigeration knowledge and experience

 

Waste:

  • Sufficient experience in a similar environment.
  • Experience with waste water treatment plants and managing site waste, identifying and implementing improvements to recycle waste and reduce costs

 

General Site Services:

  • Sufficient experience in a similar environment.

 

Technical

  • Knowledge of IWS and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Knowledge of safe working practices
  • Hygiene standards in a food environment
  • At least 3 years in similar environment
  • Forklift trained preferrable

 

Communication

  • Ability to work unsupervised and work within a team
  • Technically discuss issues/opportunities as required.
  • Have a sense of urgency, when problems are identified they must be addressed immediately.

 

The job holder should be physically fit as the role requires lots of walking, climbing and lifting.
