The role of the Processing shift relief operator is to planscontrols and executes the delivery of the daily blend/processing requirements for production through the scheduling, ordering and manufacturing of raw ingredients from concentrate with adherence to the quality specification requirement. 

 

Job Summary 

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams.   We are currently looking to hire a Processing Shift Relief Operator based in City of Industry, CA.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

As a key member of our team, you will play an important role in driving our mission forward. The following responsibilities outline the core expectations and contributions for this position: 

 

  • Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format and completed with all required information 
  • Effectively tear down, set-up, monitor, operate, changeover and clean applicable equipment and provide quality inspections on all related items to include but not limited to OQI, weight checks, compliance with product specs, etc. 
  • Physically loading ingredients into blenders, scales, hand-trucks or tanks 
  • Following directions to properly add the correct ingredients to be able to create a new batch  
  • Pasteurizing, homogenizing and operating all blending equipment 
  • Effectively weighs and measures all ingredients before properly mixing them 
  • Ensuring that all unused ingredients are stored properly before the end of a shift 
  • Procuring of daily ingredient usage from warehouse at beginning of workday  
  • Complete Cleaning-In-Place (CIP) of milk receiving, batching, mix tanks and other processing equipment 
  • Supplies a constant stream of Soybeans to the processing area using the Bean Hopper 
  • Responsible for operation of all processing equipment which includes Bean Hopper 
  • Keeps a running inventory of the Okara storage trucks every hour 
  • Monitors all Soymilk parameters via Lab testing on a timely basis and adjusts the process system to maintain proper Soymilk parameters 
  • Assists with the Master Sanitation schedule as dictated by the schedule 
  • Throws away all trash as soon as possible and maintains a clean work area in the processing, warehouse, Okara, and tanker load out areas 
  • When required, cleans all processing equipment and Soymilk storage tanks and lines 
  • Transfers Soymilk to the packaging plant 
  • Loads out tankers using proper procedures 
  • Unloads the Bean trucks, and organizes the Bean bags by organic/non-organic and in FIFO order 
  • Unloads sucrose, palm oil and soy base tankers using proper procedures. 
  • Properly completes all required charts and documentation as stated by FDA, state, and company requirements 
  • Maintains required licenses for equipment to include but is not limited to milk receiving and processors 
  • Ensure clean and inspect standards are up to date and completed in a timely manner 
  • Ensure lubrication standards are up to date and completed in a timely fashion; maintain lubrication logs 
  • Maintain working knowledge of all value stream equipment to include all support equipment, ability to troubleshoot, tighten, make minor adjustments and repairs using basic tools 
  • Completes PM’s and other routine operator maintenance tasks; assist in diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds of machines; partner with maintenance or others on non-routine repairs and defect handling. 
  • Monitor equipment for malfunctions and defects, repairing and solving minor problems without assistance and eliminating potential threats to production through maintaining equipment. 
  • Communicate effectively and partner with supervisors and maintenance personnel regarding recurring problems and needs for repair 
  • Take part in PM’s and utilize the Root Cause thought process to ensure corrective actions are sustainable 
  • Maintain communication with other departments, management and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns 
  • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, actively participate in identifying and correcting opportunities to improve processes including participation in the creation and documentation of Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions, the creation and maintenance of preventative maintenance standards, the writing of One Point Lessons, and participation in continuous improvement methodology events 
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and 5S methodology to maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area, maintaining audit ready status at all times 
  • Actively participate in Pillar activities (i.e. Quality, Focused Improvement, Safety, etc.) including but not limited to observations, inspections, and recommendations. 
  • Works diligently to achieve line efficiency goals 
  • Assist, train, and coach employees 
  • Supports plant production needs and priorities to achieve plant goals 
  • Facilitate, attend and participate in team meetings and programs 
  • Comply with all policies and procedures 
  • All other duties as assigned or become evident

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 

 

  • The mixer must work with a “touch” computer screen.  The screen is color-coded, requiring excellent, corrected vision, including ability to distinguish colors. 

 

 

Work Environment 

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise and temperature variations. 
  • Work schedules could include nights, weekends and/or holidays to provide the ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment as business needs dictate.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is loud. 
  • Mixing requires cooking with steam, so there is high heat and humidity.  Many high-speed motors create a loud noise level.

Education & Experience: 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 
  • 1 – 3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education that would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required is acceptable. 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

      Knowledge: 

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods 
  • Knowledge of SAP 

 

Skills: 

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and recipes    
  • Ability to write simple correspondence 
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and/or small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
