About the job

 

The Palletizer Technician ensures stacking is done in a neat and precise way by use of automated machinery. Operates all machinery with the highest safety measures and maintains highest quality of packaging being produced from the machinery. Palletizer Technician must maintain a thorough knowledge of the operating systems. Finally, follows all safety procedures as stated in GMP, safety standards, plant rules, and code of ethics. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format and completed with all required information 
  • Ensures the Bag and Box, Bosch, EH, EQ5, and Sidel palletizing lines are stacking correctly 
  • Looks out for broken product cases and re-tapes and restacks using the highest safety procedures possible 
  • Checks inventory of supplies, including shrink wrap and pallets, during shift and restocks if necessary 
  • Logs onto SAP system and inputs accurate product data. Prints labels from the SAP system and tapes labels accordingly on product stack 
  • Keeps palletizer area clean at all times and ensures proper safety procedures are being followed  
  • During downtimes, cleans machines in the safest manner possible  
  • Follows all safety rules, plant rules, GMP, and code of ethics 
  • Effectively tear down, set-up, monitor, operate, changeover and clean applicable equipment and provide quality inspections on all related items to include but not limited to OQI, weight checks, compliance with product specs, etc. 
  • Ensure clean and inspect standards are up to date and completed in a timely manner 
  • Ensure lubrication standards are up to date and completed in a timely fashion; maintain lubrication logs 
  • Maintain working knowledge of all equipment, have the ability to troubleshoot, tighten, make minor adjustments and repairs using basic tools 
  • Completes PM’s and other routine operator maintenance tasks; assist in diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds of machines; partner with maintenance or others on non-routine repairs and defect handling. 
  • Monitor equipment for malfunctions and defects, repairing and solving minor problems without assistance and eliminating potential threats to production through maintaining equipment. 
  • Communicate effectively and partner with supervisors and maintenance personnel regarding recurring problems and needs for repair 
  • Take part in PM’s and utilize the Root Cause thought process to ensure corrective actions are sustainable 
  • Maintain communication with other departments, management and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns 
  • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, actively participate in identifying and correcting opportunities to improve processes including participation in the creation and documentation of Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions, the creation and maintenance of preventative maintenance standards, the writing of One Point Lessons, and participation in continuous improvement methodology events 
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and 5S methodology to maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area, maintaining audit ready status at all times 
  • Actively participate in Pillar activities (i.e. Quality, Focused Improvement, Safety, etc.) including but not limited to observations, inspections, and recommendations. 
  • Assist, train, and coach employees 
  • Supports plant production needs and priorities to achieve plant goals 
  • Facilitate, attend and participate in team meetings and programs 
  • All other duties as assigned or become evident 

 

About you

Education and Experience: 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 
  • 1 – 3 months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education that would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required is acceptable 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

 

      Knowledge: 

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services 
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods 
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions 
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology 
  • Know how to operate a forklift and palletizer correctly 

 

Skills: 

  • Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action 
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times 
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents 
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems 

 

Abilities: 

  • The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble object 
  • The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects 
  • he ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: 

  • OSHA certified forklift license required
