- Department: R&I Advanced Technologies, Advanced Process Group, Milk & Dairy Ingredients Team
- Reporting to: Director Milk and Dairy Ingredients
- Location: France, Paris Saclay
Context, challenges of the department
The Advanced Technologies Process department develops new manufacturing processes, technologies, and ingredients to support Danone’s growth. This includes liquid product production, concentration and centrifugation, extraction and filtration, and Ingredient Development. The department also promotes a scientific approach to ingredient & process development.
The Milk and Dairy Ingredients team missions are:
- Providing world-class expertise in dairy milk, milk fractions, and dairy ingredients (composition, functionality, process, application, and cost).
- Using a cross-functional approach to maximize milk valorization, leveraging our supply, by-products, in-house capabilities, and external partners.
- Building deep market knowledge and access, in collaboration with C&P.
- Supporting Zone/CBU teams with high-level expertise for short-term projects by providing clear Prove of Concept (POC) ready to be used for further implementation and if necessary being accountable for handover stages
- Developing leading capabilities, standards, and digital systems across the Danone ecosystem.

- Optimize Danone’s milk costs to increase value and productivity.

Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure Milk & Dairy Ingredients fulfill end-user needs and highlight the associated risks and their mitigation actions for the final application
- Accountable for the handover stages and contribute/collaborate until launch with CBU’s and/or supply points during any new and reformulated products at production scale, achieving target performance and operational efficiency.
- Participate in challenging ingredient and product development projects with multidisciplinary teams.
- Lead the creation and implementation of new process projects aligned with the Science and Technological Assets (STA) portfolio.
- Investigate and validate innovative ingredient technologies through internal and external testing.
- Establish collaborations with scientific institutes, universities, and suppliers to explore new ingredient technologies.
- Prepare documentation (ingredient brochures, specifications) based on statistically relevant trials data for investment decisions.
- Generate and protect intellectual property and know-how, with support from IP and legal teams.
- Provide technical support during implementation (audits, training, on-site support).
- Draft and submit CIR files as required.
- Identify and implement enhancements to the global in-house dairy ingredient manufacturing ways of working (WoW), including documentation practices and role clarity within and beyond the MDI team, to drive process efficiency.
Dimensions of the function:
- Lead Milk & Dairy Ingredients work streams or cross-functional projects, set realistic timelines and milestones, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Act as a recognized partner for other functions, proactively translating stakeholder needs into ingredient solutions.
- Successfully manage both intrinsic product challenges (ingredient/process interactions) and extrinsic factors (regulatory, sourcing).
- May manage investment projects up to several million euros.

Required skills:
- Degree in Food Science and Technology, Bioprocess, Biochemical Engineering, or related field (BAC+5, Ph.D., or equivalent).
- At least 10 years’ experience in food or chemical process industries, with a focus on dairy product development.
- Experience in operational environments is a plus.
- Strong cross-functional teamwork skills and ability to meet challenging deadlines.
- Comfortable in an international, multidisciplinary organization.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
- Strategic vision for innovation in Milk and Dairy Ingredients.
- Knowledge of dairy product processes is an asset.
- Creative, collaborative, intellectually agile, rigorous, and open to new ideas.
- Strong influencing skills and business acumen.
- Hands-on approach, Self-Motivated, Taking Accountability. Resilience.
- Willingness to travel (5–10%)
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities to effectively engage with cross-functional stakeholders at senior levels beyond the MDI team.
