Reporting to the SVP, Marketing, this role leads the end-to-end strategic direction, growth, and performance of Danone Canada’s Yogurt portfolio. The Senior Director defines the category vision & strategy, portfolio and innovation strategy, and annual brand plans, with accountability for topline growth, margin, share and brand health. This leader partners closely with Insights, Commercial, Sales, Finance, Operations, and Global teams to drive sustainable, long-term category leadership and profitable growth.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Category, Portfolio & Business Leadership: Oversee approximately ~$800M in topline sales. Deliver Gross Margin objectives and Share‑Winning plans to drive sustainable market growth.  Defines and champions a clear category vision and ambition, informed by consumer, customer and competitive insights. 
  • Brand Strategy & Growth Planning: Lead the development and execution of Long-Term Brand Strategies and Annual Growth Plans grounded in deep understanding of consumers, occasions, and need states.  Ensure brand strategies translate into distinctive positioning, breakthrough communications, and strong innovation and renovation pipelines.
  • Innovation Leadership: Leads the innovation agenda across the Yogurt portfolio, including pipeline development, prioritization and delivery of incremental, sustainable growth.  Partners with R&I, SIA, Operations and Global teams to accelerate speed to market and commercialization excellence.
  • A&P Ownership: Leads disciplined A&P investment management (approximately $25-$30M annually), ensuring strong ROI and alignment with strategic priorities.  
  • Business Performance & Insights: Monitor brand and category performance using internal data, Nielsen, panels, ad‑hoc studies, and competitive intelligence, translating insights into decisive actions. Deeply understands the performance and drivers of Brand Health and Brand Power with a focus on strengthening relevance, saliency and differentiation.  Partners with Demand Planning and Sales Strategy to support volume forecasting and scenario planning.
  • P&L & Budget Stewardship: Manage key brand P&L drivers in close partnership with Finance and Commercial Teams. Oversee marketing budgets and resource allocation to strengthen brand health, sales, margin delivery, and long‑term profitable growth.
  • People Leadership & Development: Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of ~10, drive strong engagement and foster a culture of accountability, curiosity and continuous improvement.  Build strong succession plans and capabilities within the marketing organization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Leadership: Works closely with Media & Integrated Communication Teams, Commercial, Sales, Omni-Channel Marketing teams to deliver consumer-centric, customer relevant go-to-market plans.  Influences and aligns senior stakeholders across functions to drive clarity, prioritization and execution excellence. Collaborates with key Global Brand Teams on brand strategies, innovations, communications and plans.

 

The final salary offered will be determined by factors such as relevant experience and qualifications, internal equity and external market conditions.

  • 15+ years of experience in brand management, category leadership, or marketing within FMCG/CPG.
  • Strong financial acumen with proven ability to manage large P&L, A&P budgets, and sales + margin‑driving initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and deploy category strategies that deliver growth and market share acceleration.
  • Demonstrated experience and track record of delivering results through winning brand plans.  Expertise in leading brand strategies, plans and marketing campaigns, rooted in deep consumer insight & understanding.   
  • Demonstrated experience leading innovation strategies and successful track-record in delivering incremental, sustainable innovations, rooted in clear insights and the consumer
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience managing cross‑functional teams, partnering with Global Teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, problem‑solving, and operational discipline.
  • Exceptional storytelling, communication skills and influence.
  • Experience in dairy or broader food & beverage categories is an asset.
