At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams.   We are currently looking to hire a Reliability Engineer based in Fort Worth, Texas.

 

In this role, you will support the Cooler Warehouse operations and be directly responsible for the elimination of breakdowns through ownership of the Planned Maintenance (PM) and Break Down Elimination (BDE) Sub-Systems while supporting the remaining sub-systems of the PM Pillar activities. You will provide leadership of mechanics supporting their team on a 24/7 basis to drive World Class Maintenance processes. You will display servant leadership abilities that help empower mechanics and line team associates to higher performance levels and greater morale.

 

Reliability Engineers are responsible for daily tactical execution of Daily Direction Setting priorities, coordination of mechanics, execution and follow up of planned maintenance work. In addition, the Reliability Engineer is responsible for developing planned maintenance strategies that support safety, people engagement, quality, cost, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Reliability Engineer is the technical expert for the assigned area and partners with Engineering on equipment changes/installations for integration into maintenance processes. This position is responsible to coach and develop leads / teams on every shift within their area. This role reports directly into the BU Leader-Cooler and may have an indirect reporting relationship with the Plant Maintenance and Reliability Technical Manager and is responsible to align BU activities with the plant maintenance strategy.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for: 

  • Ensuring the safety of our people and our products always.
  • Attending and supporting all line meetings as part of the Daily Direction Setting (DDS) process.
    • Daily reporting of breakdowns (including leveraging Breakdown Elimination) with updates on action status.
    • Weekly tracking and reporting of maintenance measurement data – Backlog, MTTC, PM Completion (Indicators of health of Planning & Scheduling system)
    • Partner with Production Leaders and OpEx Leaders in the development and execution of Plan for the Day and loss elimination activities from a maintenance perspective.
  • Responsible for scheduling maintenance technicians to ensure:
    • Adequate maintenance technician coverage in a consistent and equitable way that is consistent with the contract and state regulations.
    •  Through the Maintenance Planner, maintain weekly maintenance schedules to deliver planned maintenance commitments for owned lines.
    • As needed, adjust daily assignments for mechanics on each shift to address unplanned technical issues on assigned lines while continuing to focus on engaging mechanics in proactive work that will improve line predictability/stability.
    • Meet with each shift daily to review work completed and provide direction
  • Be a proactive member of Plant Pillar Team
    • Coaches’ teams through effective execution of maintenance processes in support of the PM Pillar plan and build capability and ownership of these systems down to the team level over time for assigned area.
    • Responsible for coaching the operations and maintenance team to progress to a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) culture.
    • Regardless of direct or indirect reporting structure to the Plant Maintenance Manager, responsible for aligning BU maintenance initiatives with the Plant Maintenance initiatives through the PM Pillar.
    • Provides KPI and reporting information to the Plant Maintenance Manager in support of the overall plant maintenance KPIs.
    • Align with Plant Maintenance Manager on training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
  • Owns the Preventive Maintenance (PM) Sub-System for assigned area which includes:
    • Leadership of the Maintenance Planner to deliver the maintenance plan to drive World Class performance of the MP&S process.
    • Ensures maintainable assets are assessed for criticality and is process is updated as equipment changes or plant performance changes.
    • Implements PMs on assets based on criticality assessment per NORAM PM Pillar Guidelines.
    • Executes strategy of Continuous Improvement of PMs to ensure FMEA concepts are used with pass/fail criteria to deliver expected result per NORAM PM Pillar Guidelines.
    • Develops FMEA based updates for the PM System based on breakdown learnings from the RCFA activities.
    • Leverage learnings from other plants to the network standardized PMs to improve the PM system.
  • Owns the Break Down Elimination (BDE) Sub-System for assigned area which includes:
    • Responsible for the RCFA process post break downs that include BDE cards, RCPS tools, etc.
    • Execute action plans to eliminate root cause of breakdowns and replicate across similar assets.
    • Collaborate with Maintenance Planner to ensure PM system is updated to eliminate root cause of breakdowns for all applicable assets.
    • Identify breakdown themes across assigned areas and identify action plan to resolve.
    • Analysis of equipment performance and improving component life.
  • Owns the AM Support Sub-System for assigned area which includes:
    • Responsible to develop technical capability to the AM teams, including ability to find and resolve defects.
    • Provides technical support for the development of CILTs, centerlines, and visual standards to optimize operation of the equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned

Work schedule: Work schedule may vary due to business needs and requires an ability to support a 24/7 production environment.  Work schedules could include day or night shift and/or weekend schedules as business needs dictate. Adjust hours based on factory needs to support off shift critical work and emergency repairs where required.

About You:

  • Education:   At minimum you must have a completed high school diploma or GED.   A bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline is preferred
  • Experience: You have a minimum of 3- 5 years’ experience in developing, leading teams, end executing proven maintenance reliability programs, management of maintenance budgeting processes, and frontline maintenance leadership, within a manufacturing environment, required. Prior experience within a food/beverage manufacturing environment is preferred.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Interpersonal and communication skills required to interact with all levels of plant personnel and be comfortable working with minimal supervision.  Under minimal direction, works independently toward department objectives.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, interpret, and effectively train others on documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Process (GMPs).
  • Strong computer skills needed including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) along with the ability to complete computer-based training.
  • Ability to think creatively and come up with innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Experience managing smaller engineering and manufacturing project groups.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and effectively including planning, scheduling, and organizing.
  • Working knowledge of break down analysis/root cause analysis tools with preventive and predictive concepts, and lowest cost of ownership.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize Maintenance Performance Measurements (KPI’s).
  • Demonstrated understanding and prior utilization of the following:
    • maintenance planning and scheduling concepts
    • utilization of storeroom management concepts
    • Maintenance Best Practices
  • Prior experience with IWS methodology is a plus.
  • Must be able to read and understand Safety Data Sheets.
  • Must be self-motivated to conduct the work and self-starter.
