At Danone, we want to be open and transparent in the way we use cookies and what this means for you.

Some of the cookies we use are essential for the functionality of our website but there are also cookies that you can opt out of.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small file saved on your computer or mobile device. It has a unique ID assigned to your device and enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as location, language, font size and other display preferences) over a period of time. That way, you don't have to keep re-entering the information whenever you come back to the website or browse from one page to another. Cookies can also help customize your browsing experience. Cookies can also be used for analytics which allows us to understand how our websites are used.

Not all cookies contain personal information but where they do, we will treat this information as personal data in accordance with our Privacy Statement. We also treat cookie information as personal data where it is associated with your account or other contact information.

Types

There are two broad categories of cookies: persistent cookies and session cookies. Persistent cookies remain on your device until deleted manually or automatically. Session cookies remain on your device until you close your browser and are thereby automatically deleted.

Why do we use cookies?

There are a few reasons why we may use cookies:

Cookies that are strictly necessary for the website to function and to enable you to make use of the services we provide;
Cookies that collect data related to the use of our website and the performance of it. We use this information to improve our online products and services;
Cookies that we use to personalize and optimize your experience on our website. These cookies store information on your choices such as text size, language and screen resolution;

Duration

There are a few reasons why we may use cookies:

The duration of the validity of the cookies exempted of consent (e.g. strictly necessary cookies) is 13 months. Information collected or inferred through cookies is kept by Danone for a maximum period of 25 months.
When your prior consent is required for their use (e.g. certain analytics cookies, social media cookies, cookies for advertising purposes), the period of validity of the consent to the deposit of cookies is 6 months. At the end of this period, we will ask for your consent again.

Strictly necessary cookies

These are cookies that we need to be able to offer you a proper functioning website and which enables you to make use of the services we provide.

If these cookies are blocked, you will not be able to make use of our website.

Elastic Load Balancing creates a cookie which enables the load balancer to bind a user's session to a specific instance. This ensures that all requests from the user during the session are sent to the same instance.	AWSELB

Analytics and performance-related cookies

These cookies help us measure traffic patterns to determine which areas of our website have been visited. We use this to research a visitor’s habits so that we can improve our online products and services. We may log IP addresses (that is, the electronic addresses of computers connected to the internet) to analyze trends, administer the website, track users’ movements, and gather broad demographic information.

Cookies for personalization

These cookies enable us to recognize your computer and greet you each time you visit our website without bothering you with a request to register or to log in.

Third-party cookies (advertising or social media cookies)

These are cookies placed on our website by third parties on our behalf. The cookies enable us to generate personalized advertisements on other websites, which are based on information about you such as your page views on our website. Our websites may also place cookies for third-party services such as social media.

We do not provide any personal information to third parties that place cookies on our website. However, third parties may assume that users who interact with or click on a personalized ad or content displayed on our website fall within a group that the ad or content is directed towards. We do not have access to or control over cookies or other features that advertisers and third-party sites may use. The information practices of these third parties are not covered by our Privacy or Cookie Statement. Please contact them directly for more information about their privacy practices.

Cookie associated with Snapchat. Sets a unique ID for the visitor, that allows third party advertisers to target the visitor with relevant advertisement. This pairing service is provided by third party advertisement hubs, which facilitates realtime bidding for advertisers.	_scid

How do I manage cookies?

It’s possible to withdraw your consent to cookies at any time, block cookies or even delete cookies that have already been placed on your device directly on our site, by clicking on the “Privacy Center” button in the website footer. If you do so, you may not be able to access certain parts of our website and we may think that you have never visited us before and will therefore show you the Cookie Statement again and ask for your consent in placing cookies.

You can also block cookies by changing your browser’s settings. The configuration of each browser is different. It is described in the help menu of your browser, which will allow you to know how to change your wishes for cookies.

Firefox

Click on the menu button and select “Options”.
Select the “Privacy” panel.
Set the “Storage Rules” menu to “Use Custom Settings for History”.
Clear the “Accept cookies” checkbox.
Any changes you have made will be automatically saved.

Internet Explorer

Click the Tools button, then click “Internet Options”.
Click the “Privacy” tab, then under “Settings”, move the cursor up to block all cookies or down to allow all cookies, then click OK.

Google Chrome

Select the Chrome menu icon.
Select “Settings”.
At the bottom of the page, select “Show advanced settings”.
In the “Privacy” section, select “Content Settings”.
Select “Prohibit all sites from storing data”.
Select OK.

Safari

Click “Settings”> “Safari”> “Privacy”> “Cookies and Website Data”
Then select “always block”.

Opera

Click “Settings”> “Safari”> “Privacy”> “Cookies and Website Data”
Then select “always block”.

However, if you decide to refuse session or functionality cookies, you will not be able to access many of the options offered by Danone. As such, we cannot be held responsible in the event of degraded operation of the site linked to the settings you have chosen.

Finally, if you have deactivated one or more cookies, we can still use the information collected by these cookies before their deactivation. Nevertheless, we stop collecting data through the refused cookie.
