The CIP Technician is responsible for contributing to the production of optimum quality products through the continuous improvement and support of facility cleaning and sanitation programs including primary focus in the Neptune and validation programs. The primary purpose of this position is to support equipment validations, process sanitation, and be an active participant of the Neptune Program.  This position will help the Mt. Crawford facility to world class levels of cleanliness, chemical safety, and operating cost.

Key Responsibilities

As a key member of our team, you will play an important role in driving our mission forward. The following responsibilities outline the core expectations and contributions for this position:

 

 

  • Follows established safety practices and performs all tasks in a safe manner while promoting a safe work environment. Provide support of all cleaning and sanitation programs, including: environmental, COP and CIP. Help to ensure sanitary conditions in plant
  • Validate Clean-In-Place (CIP) effectiveness on existing and new systems by analyzing data and troubleshooting by implementing and using Neptune and CIP United methodology and audits
  • Help in identification and implementation of cleaning improvements in each department
  • Interact with external chemical vendors and mechanical contractors to ensure overall process safety and that sanitary products are being utilized in the plant
  • Develop and maintain documentation for cleaning and sanitation audits as well as any other program documentation
  • Assist in continuous improvement of cleaning and sanitation programs using (KPI) data associated with sanitation verification activities (i.e., ATP swabs, protein swabs, rinse water) and environmental monitoring activities
  • Support hygienic design and engineering projects within the facility as directed
  • Support compliance to all Company GMP, SOP, Safety Practices and Policies affecting cleaning and sanitation programs
  • Ensure all records are complete, accurate, legible, and in conformance to standard
  • Perform Neptune audits and CIP United evaluations to the corporate Danone standard
  • Be a proactive team member and explore issues before they become problems
  • Ability to work with and around approved cleaning chemicals in a safe manner
  • Train plant employees on sanitation practices and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned or become evident

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of education, experience, and skills that enable them to excel in this position. The following qualifications outline what we’re looking for, including both required and preferred criteria:

 

Education & Experience:

  • An Associates or Technical Degree with some experience, and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with reading and interpreting P&ID drawings
  • Experience with Line Tracing
  • Experience with CIP and cleaning processes

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Interpersonal skills required to interact with all levels of plant personnel and contractors/vendors and be comfortable working with minimal supervision.  Under minimal direction, works independently toward department objectives
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid
  • Ability to serve as a change agent who can “make it happen” while building positive relationships on a foundation of trust and mutual respect
  • Flexibility to work weekends, day and night shifts, and overtime
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)
  • Strong computer skills needed including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access) along with the ability to complete computer-based safety training
  • Ability to comprehend, follow, and effectively convey instructions
  • Ability to effectively present information and Neptune audit observations in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Possess the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs and other tools used to track and manage performance metrics.
  • Must be able to read and understand Safety Data Sheets
  • Must follow all safety procedures and guidelines
  • Must be self-motivated to conduct the work and be a self-starter
  • Energy, resilience, determination, enthusiasm and strong analytical skills to challenge the status quo
