Job Summary
At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are currently looking to hire an Inventory Supply Specialist based in our Portland, Oregon manufacturing facility! 
The Inventory Supply Specialist manages raw & packaging material inventory and flow to support the operations of the plant. Responsible for material call off/PO creation for specified materials to support finished goods production plans, minimize obsolescence and provide overall cost containment. Liaison between company, the finance department 
and vendors. 

 

Key Responsibilities
As a key member of our team, you will play an important role in driving our mission forward. The following responsibilities outline the core expectations and contributions for this position:

  • Participate in supplier material planning meetings to ensure short- and long-term alignment with DOS, obsolescence targets, and pricing negotiations.
  • Provide accurate material forecasts to suppliers and corporate stakeholders.
  • Execute packaging runout and warehousing strategies to minimize obsolescence with no impact on production. 
  • Lead and support cost‑saving initiatives through special projects and structured project management.
  • Establish and follow purchasing guidelines aligned with company strategy and finance objectives.
  • Ensure adequate materials are available to support production schedules and confirm order completion and loss reporting for accounting
  • Maintain material systems and processes, including MRP, Orsoft data, DanTrade contracts, SSR validation, and inactive material cleanup.
  • Track, analyze, and report key supply chain KPIs; manage SLED activity, blocked AP invoices, and freight file reviews.
  • Drive continuous improvement, build strong cross‑functional relationships, promote a positive team culture, and comply with all safety requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Office environment; extended sitting and computer use
  • Some fatigue due to long term computer use.
  • Occasional climbing of ladders and stairs for trailer, container, vessel inspection.
  • Ability to work overtime and flexibility with work schedule (nights/weekends)

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise and temperature variations.
  • Work schedules could include nights, weekends and/or holidays to provide the ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment as business needs dictate. 
  • Personal Protective equipment required in the plant

Ensure adherence to plant standards and procedures (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, HOPE, Danone Behaviors, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE). As a fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate and own the implementation and deployment of IWS system and its pillars 
(Leadership foundation, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE; Autonomous Maintenance; planned Maintenance; Focused Improvement; Education and Training; Environmental, Health and Safety; Quality; Organization; Supply Network; Early Equipment Management) with the objective of owning your space, owning your performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and owning your continuous improvement.

About you

About You:
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of education, experience, and skills that enable them to excel in this position. The following qualifications outline what we’re looking for, including both required and preferred criteria:

 

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum HS Diploma/GED required
  • Bachelor’s in Supply Chain Management/Logistics or related degree preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in manufacturing, warehouse management systems (dairy, chemistry, food, pharmacy).
  • APICS Certification preferred 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated understanding of SC processes and safety stock optimization strategies
  • Demonstrated understanding of materials management & supplier management
  • SAP/APO knowledge a plus
  • Knowledge of supply chain including supply planning with demonstrated ability to build strong internal and external relationships
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and coordinate efforts around process improvement.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel at an intermediate level.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have strong organizational, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced production environment.
