At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams.   We are currently looking to hire a Business Unit Leader - Cooler based in Fort Worth, TX!  

 

A strong cross functional business relationship with manufacturing and supply chain is imperative for this role. This position will work closely with the Production Director to direct and manage the day-to-day operations of the assigned business unit. This person will manage utilization of equipment, facilities, and obtain maximum efficiency and meet performance objectives. As well as own the responsibility of inventory accuracy of finished product from production declaration through its life in the local distribution center (DC). This position will lead, coach, and set direction for multiple supervisors and IWS Team leaders on a regular basis and report to the Production Director with a dotted line to the Regional DC Manager.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Clear champion for a safe culture and driver towards an accident-free workplace  
  • Provides clear leadership, coaching and direction to team in alignment with plant objectives and vision 
  • Creates strategic plans and actions for their cell unit to ensure that the plant delivers its annual objectives 
  • Coaches’ cell unit and IWS leaders in developing servant leadership standards and practices  
  • Champions the identification and implementation of best practices  
  • Recognizes and solves problems using Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies 
  • Leader in the implementation of the IWS methodology within their cell unit 
  • Performs routine health checks within their cell unit on various daily management systems related to the daily direction setting process 
  • Maintains the highest standards in product quality and consumer satisfaction  
  • Work closely with Supply Chain, Production and Finance leadership in order to strive for continuous improvement in all areas of operation.
  • Direct and coordinates activities of cell unit to promote operational efficiency, waste reduction, cost effectiveness, and safety        
  • Ensures compliance in HACCP, FQP, and GMP, all of DANONE’s’ SOPs, and all state and federal laws 
  • Champions data drive decision making and is skilled at analysis of performance information 
  • Responsible for cell unit expense control, including labor, materials and waste 
  • Generates and provides reliable information to measure the performance of the cell unit.  
  • Responsible for meeting customer needs through scheduling processes which ensure that products are manufactured, loaded, and shipped 
  • Ensures training programs are established and meeting the needs of the cell unit. 
  • Responsible for meeting all regulatory requirements and rules 
  • Pillar Membership to one of the IWS Pillars; will likely own tools and systems within that pillar.   
  • Other duties as assigned

About you

Education and Experience:

 

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.  A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience and/or training with at least 2 years in a supervisory position in a cold warehouse environment.   An equivalent combination of experience and education that would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required is acceptable in lieu of a completed degree.
  • Prior management experience in a Unionized environment is preferred.
  • Must be familiar with basic WMS equipment such as standup forklift, RF scanners, etc.
  • You have computer proficiency especially in MS Office products (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point) and Kronos or other payroll system capability, SAP, Korber system.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles such as TPM, IWS, etc, preferred.

  • You have strong interpersonal skills associated with developing trusting relationships.
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures
  • You are organized and have multi-tasking and prioritization skills.

Ensure adherence to plant standards (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, CODES, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE).  As fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate and own the implementation and development of Integrated Work Systems (IWS) and its pillars (Leadership, Loss Elimination, Progressive Maintenance, Education & Training, Supply Network, Initiative Management, Quality, Environmental Health and Safety, Autonomous Maintenance, Organization) with the objective of owning your space, owning your performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and 100% Ownership and Zero Loss.
