About the job

The Sourcing Manager – Manufacturing Services and Energy will be based in our White Plains, NY or Louisville, CO office and directly reports to the Director of CapEx, Industrial Services and Energy Procurement. The Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies across North America in alignment with management for categories such as Manufacturing Services (including but not limited to spare parts, maintenance services, MRO, and lab services and supplies for manufacturing plants) and Energy. This role involves selecting and managing suppliers, optimizing costs, and supporting business objectives throughout North America through effective supplier management and data-driven decision-making.

The Sourcing Manager will also proactively monitor market trends and regulatory changes affecting energy procurement, staying informed about sustainability initiatives and employing innovative sourcing solutions to minimize environmental impact while ensuring cost efficiency. The successful candidate will support, collaborate, and implement sourcing strategies for assigned categories; work to increase spend visibility and understanding; and drive business growth by identifying and implementing partnerships with retained suppliers to enhance industrial services and supply propositions.

The position will be based in the USA with flexibility to travel across North America 20% of workdays.

  • Support, collaborate and implement the sourcing strategies for respective categories.
  • Support activities to increase spend visibility and understanding.
  • Support growth through identification and implementation of adapted partnerships with retained suppliers, to improve industrial services and supplies proposition.
  • Create internal and external synergies by identifying opportunities and maximizing TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).
  • Facilitate and drive sourcing decisions through development and implementation of appropriate tools and processes.
  • Define sourcing strategy through market studies to identify best practices, identify gaps, risks, and opportunities as well as to identify new suppliers and develop a robust supplier base.

Strategies:

  • Develop and lead sourcing strategies within respective categories in alignment with Operations, Engineering, Plant Directors, Utility Managers, Maintenance Managers, and Finance.
  • Propose solutions that balance quality, timing, and cost according to strategic objectives.
  • Evaluate supplier proposals and cultivate partnerships with strategic suppliers to maximize value, cost efficiency, and support Danone North America's objectives.
  • Oversee supplier selection, sourcing, negotiation, and contracting within budget.
  • Implement and manage contracts, ensuring local compliance, supplier performance measurement, and contract monitoring.
  • Secure timely supply of investments through risk analysis, contingency planning, and service level management.
  • Recommend and negotiate optimal energy solutions focused on quality, timing, and cost efficiency within budget constraints.
  • Manage energy supplier selection, contracting, compliance, and ongoing performance monitoring to ensure reliable supply.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement energy sourcing strategies, increase spend visibility, and ensure alignment with business and sustainability goals.

Project Management:

  • Lead and support sourcing projects by adhering to Danone's budgets, schedules, and quality standards, utilizing appropriate sourcing tools.
  • Participate in Global initiatives/projects led by Group Danone to implement cost out and value generation for the business.
  • Monitor, review and communicate projects status (with respect to contractual commitments of the supplier).
  • Anticipate and alert key stakeholders in case of non-compliance with the contractual commitments.
  • Develop a sustainable process between the country business unit (CBU) and Suppliers teams with a focus on delivering key business objectives.

Supplier and Contract Management / Supplier Relationship Management

  • Develop and launch RFQs / RFPs (Request for Quotation/Proposal) to select suppliers in targeted categories.
  • Analyze proposals and make recommendations to key internal upper management stakeholders.
  • Negotiate contracts with new vendors.
  • Draft contracts and align on contractual language with Legal and business partners.
  • Manage suppliers to ensure business needs are met and maintain Supplier Relationship Management to improve supplier performance.
  • Develop and implement performance indicators, monitor suppliers, and support continuous improvement.

Budget & Productivity Management:

  • Manage overall spend for assigned categories.
  • Establish the budget along with Operations and manage risks for respective areas through work with Finance, Maintenance, and Engineering stakeholders.
  • Update/Create, maintain tools to track the performance of the Manufacturing sourcing team of North America.
    • The tools include but not limited to:
      • Spend under contract
      • Spend that can be shifted to strategic vendors
      • Rebate tracker
      • Productivity tracker
      • Contract status
      • Contract document archive control

Impact Management:

  • Inside Danone: create trust and synergy within the different business units and industrial teams to implement sourcing strategies efficiently. Support manufacturing teams with enterprise projects or crisis solving situations.
  • Outside Danone: create strong, trusting relationships with applicable suppliers, to leverage knowledge, skills, and innovation capabilities.

 

The salary range for this position is $79,000-114,000 USD. The exact salary offered will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience, geographic location, internal equity, and market conditions.  Danone North America additionally offers a performance-based bonus and has a strong benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription Drug Coverage, 401k Plan, Wellness Program, Life Insurance, Tuition Reimbursement, Flexible Time Off, and Paid Parental Bonding Leave, among other benefit plan options. About you

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field of study
    • Professional certification in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Project Management is a plus.
  • Must have 5-7 years of related experience in Procurement or Supply Chain
    • Experience in in CPG company or related dairy experience preferred
    • Experience in managing energy sourcing strongly preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced cross-functional, multi-cultural, matrix environment.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives and lead change by engaging people.
  • Thorough understanding of contractual terms and conditions.
  • Proactively anticipates issues/opportunities & can work through multiple simultaneous projects prioritizing competing objectives appropriately.
  • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Dispute resolution and claims management experience.
  • Proactively communicate with management and all key stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skillset (i.e., expert/advanced proficiency within Microsoft suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Rigorous data analysis capability and financial acumen.
  • Build and manage dashboards and communicate these to internal stakeholders and senior level leadership.
  • Strong desire to achieve results.
  • People management is not required but is a plus.
  • Travel up to 20%
