SWING SHIFT: 2:00 PM - 12:30 AM (Wednesday - Saturday)

 

The Quality Assurance Tech I is responsible for following Danone’s systematic process that helps our products meet federal and state food manufacturing compliance, and customer needs and expectations, in addition to preventing product defects before they arise.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
• Conducts post cleaning and pre-op inspections on production lines.
• Conducts ATP swabs and allergen tests to ensure equipment/tools are clean.
• Analyzes mix samples to determine the solids and pH.
• Conducts micro testing of pasteurized mix, and microbiology and allergen tests of finished good samples for So Delicious Dairy Free plant and Plant 3 samples to ensure compliance.
• Approves mixes to enable the line to begin production.
• Verifies ingredients and packaging at startup of production lines and throughout the production runs for all products.
• Conducts sensory evaluations of all finished goods samples to ensure product quality meets guidelines.
• Conducts hourly line checks including metal detector validations and sample collections.
• Collects retention samples to use as reference in investigations.
• Issues non-conformance holds and dispositions on material and finished product.
• Assists in quality assurance data management by documenting testing results on both paper documents and computer files.
• Maintains stock and inventories lab supplies regularly.
• Completes Lean 5S cleaning of the lab.
• Participates in foreign material and food safety and quality incidents investigations.
• Ensures compliance in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Lab Practices (GLPs).
• Completes document review of QA and production paperwork, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Builds and maintains relationships with all coworkers at all organizational levels.
• Promotes a positive team atmosphere and champions involvement of coworkers.
• Complies with all safety regulations to help ensure a safe working environment.
• Calibrates lab equipment as needed.
• Assists in training coworkers, production personnel, and others as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; taste and/or smell, talk and hear.
• Ability to bend & stoop at waist level as well as bend & twist neck and head.
• The employee must regularly endure repetitive minimal to moderate lifting 10lbs up to 50lbs and occasional team lifting above 50lbs. Requires normal range of hearing and vision (including colors) to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports and results.
• The employee is frequently standing on a concrete surface during your scheduled shift.
• Occasionally you may need to climb stairs, step ladders, and/or a stool.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and may be exposed to loud noises in the plant. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
• Wears personal protective equipment daily; continuously reach, push/pull; frequently twist; occasionally stoop/bend; intermittently crouch, climb, and balance; use hands for repetitive fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, and simple grasp; and talk and hear under noisy conditions. Visual acuity and taste to discern product variation.
• Working conditions frequently include a cool indoor food production environment and occasional freezer environment, and intermittent outdoor environment. Clean environment, requiring hand washing every time you go on the floor 20+/- times a day.

About you

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
 Must meet one of the following:
o Bachelor’s degree in food science, Biochemistry, or a related field, or
o Associate’s degree in food science, Biochemistry, or a related field and a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience, or
o Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant work experience.
 Knowledge of laboratory practices and procedures.

• Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication, planning, multitasking, and follow through skills.

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints.
• Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced production environment.
• Demonstrated ability to identify problems, draw conclusions, and make recommended solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to work self-directed with little supervision.
