About the Role

At the Nutricia Research Centre for Specialized Nutrition, located at the Utrecht Science Park, researchers work daily on innovative nutritional solutions for vulnerable groups such as infants, the elderly and patients.

As an Assistant Buyer / Junior Buyer, you support the R&I team in purchasing materials, reagents, equipment and other supplies necessary for research projects. You help ensure a smooth buying process so that researchers always have access to the right materials at the right time.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Supporting the Procurement Process

  • Process purchase requests from researchers, ranging from standard laboratory consumables to more specialized items.
  • Request quotations from suppliers and compare prices, lead times, and conditions.
  • Create and place purchase orders according to internal procedures.

Communication with Suppliers & Internal Stakeholders

  • Maintain daily contact with suppliers regarding product availability, order status and delivery timelines.
  • Identify and report deviations such as delays and communicate these to the senior buyer or the requesting researcher.
  • Collaborate closely with the logistics team to ensure correct receipt, booking and distribution of ordered goods.

Administrative & System Support

  • Accurately record product information, quotations, order confirmations and other documentation in various systems.
  • Ensure correct data entry and timely updates to support internal audits and compliance processes.
  • Handle administrative follow-up of invoices, including checking, processing, and resolving discrepancies with suppliers and finance

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Buyer R&I and colleagues within the logistics teams.
  • Assist in process improvements and contribute ideas to optimize purchasing workflow and efficiency.

About you

About You

You are eager to learn, accurate and enjoy being a key link within the research environment. You work well under pressure, enjoy supporting others, and have a strong interest in laboratory-related products and scientific innovation.

You are a great fit if you have:

  • MBO level of working and thinking, preferably MLO.
  • Knowledge of laboratory supplies and an interest in scientific environments.
  • Strong purchasing-related skills, such as comparing offers, assessing supplier reliability, and making wellreasoned choices.
  • A customeroriented and proactive mindset.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Comfortable navigating and operating multiple software platforms
  • A good command of both Dutch and English.
