Danone's research and innovation (R&I) centre, located in Gif-sur-Yvette on the Saclay plateau, is a global center of excellence dedicated to food innovation research.

The Danone R&I Center is part of a global research ecosystem designed to foster collaboration with food technology start-ups and accelerate innovation in partnership with consumers and food and health stakeholders.

 

Context: 

 

The main missions of the R&I Advanced Technologies Department are: 
• Create innovative and differentiating technological solutions to meet the needs of consumers and patients in an approach integrating the One Planet One Health strategic framework. The priorities include:  

o "Plant-based" solutions 
o Optimization of milk and dairy ingredients 
o Packaging processing 
o The development of innovative ingredients 
o The development and mastery of technologies and processes allowing rapid innovation and time to market, excellence in execution and optimization of investments 
o Simplifying developments through the creation and combination of high value-added technology elements 
• Support the Zones/CBUs teams in charge of short-term projects (H1) to find solutions to their problems when high-level expertise is required 
• Develop and equip leading capabilities, standards and systems based on digital tools in good coordination with D2D 
 
More specifically, the Advanced Technologies - Ingredients department is in charge of developing innovative ingredients and providing expertise in the different categories of existing or emerging ingredients as well as anticipating scientific and technological solutions through the promotion and development of our ecosystem. 

Within Advanced Technologies - Ingredients, the Advanced Ingredient Cereals & plant-based ingredients team focused on researching and developing new innovative plant based raw material & technologies for the future Danone portfolio.   

 

 

 

Objectives of the role:

 

Develop expertise in the physicochemical and functional properties of cereals and plant-based ingredients, as well as their transformation processes and their impact on the final matrix, in alignment with the One Planet One Health vision and business activities. 

- Test and validate different formulations and technologies involving Cereals & Plant based ingredients  

- The definition and implementation of the strategy and realization of the STA (Science & Technology Assets) raw material transformation  

- Work in collaboration with the other experts of the Advanced Techno team as needed in order to obtain a solution involving the necessary unit operations and interaction with other ingredients (formulation) 
- Manage synergies with other R&I & D2D functions (Engineering, Quality, Operations, C&P) to align with priorities and ensure effective ways to work as "one team" 
 
The purpose is either to obtain superiority/competitiveness of our products, or to gain productivity, or to contribute to the launch of a disruptive product innovation. 

 
 

 

The Main Responsibilities of the role are:

 

Create, structure, and implement projectsrelated to raw material transformation (cereals & plant-based ingredients), aligned with the PB strategy and STA project portfolio. 

  • Assess feasibilityof innovative and differentiating processing and product concepts that deliver nutritional benefits and taste improvements; develop prototypes and establish proof of concepts. 

  • Build collaborative projectswith internal and external partners (academia, suppliers) to accelerate and enhance solution development. 

  • Manage intellectual property, including filing patents and preparing opposition files when applicable. 

  • Implement H2/H3 innovation projectsand support H1 initiatives in line with departmental and business strategies. 

  • Lead and manage innovation work packages focused on raw material transformation (cereals & PB ingredients). 

  • Document discoveries and technical expertise, translate them into training materials, and deploy them to local teams. 

  • Oversee human and financial resources allocated to projects, ensuring efficient use and alignment with objectives. 

  • Manage and develop team members, allocate resources effectively, and foster a collaborative and motivated team environment. 

  • Contribute to building the internal and external ecosystem, strengthening strategic networks and partnerships. 

  • Communicate and promote project outcomes in relevant forums and governance bodies. 

  • Draft CIR (Crédit Impôt Recherche) files related to the field of activity. 

  • Conduct benchmarking and competitive intelligence to stay ahead in the territory 

 

 

About you

Targeted Profile:


Academic training in Food Biochemistry, Food Technology, Food Science, or related disciplines. 

  • Over 10 years of professional experience in research and development of ingredients, technologies, and product formulations, with a strong focus on plant-based ingredients. 

  • Proven expertise in cereals and processing technologies, including transformation and formulation strategies. 

  • Solid experience in leading complex projects, driving innovation and cross-functional collaboration. 

  • Fluent in English, with strong communication skills across international teams and stakeholders

  • Open mindset with a strong ability to connect and build solid relationships. 

  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management. 

  • Agile, curious, and proactive, with a drive to push boundaries and defend new ideas.
