Nutricia Research Centre for Specialized Nutrition, located in the Utrecht Science Park in the Netherlands is a state-of-the-art Life Science innovation Center for the development of new product concepts for Specialized Nutrition. We create formulas that provide clinically substantiated health benefits to vulnerable consumers – infants, toddlers, elderly and patients.  

 

We are looking for a Data Science & Analytics Manager in the User Experience team. You will own the design and delivery of Data Science & Analytics solutions based on business requirements to improve user experience and business strategy, from the idea generation to implementation, partnering with your team, Digital – Data Science, Analytics and AI. This new position is a great opportunity for someone wishing to join a dynamic community, in the User Experience department of Danone Nutricia Research in Utrecht. Our dynamic UX community, with more than 100 collaborators across the world, has for main mission to embody the user voice to inspire and co-design superior food experiences that people will adopt. We work in a multi-disciplinary business environment, to understand consumers behaviours and expectations and design Products and Packaging. About the job 

As Data Science & Analytics Manager, you will use your strong business acumen & expertise in Data Science, Analytics and AI within the Specialised Nutrition (SN) User Experience (UX) team to provide industry-leading data solutions to understand and explain users’ perceptions and to direct product development. You will also use your industry experience and your ability to translate data insights into business strategy. 

 
Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Drive, develop and fine-tune innovative data science, advanced analytics and AI solutions in collaboration with the Senior UX Sensory Data Manager that power UX SN digital and product innovation and data-driven decision leveraging sensory and consumer research data, working with cross-functional teams. 
  • Lead the creation and development of predictive models, owning the full data workflow: collecting, cleaning, analysing, and modelling data, translating business needs into data insights and applying suitable analytical methods to solve complex business and technical challenges effectively. 
  • Provide technical expertise to build sophisticated models and run complex statistical analysis, contributing to advanced analytics projects that drive deeper business insights and innovation  
  • Discover patterns, trends, and correlations in the data to build models and deliver actionable business insights to internal and external stakeholders 
  • Proactively identify and drives structural data needs, ensuring data quality and supporting the team by providing technical and tactical support and removing roadblocks 
  • Use data visualisation and storytelling skills (e.g. self-service dashboards) to influence internal decision-making effectively, communicating complex concepts in simple and actionable terms to key stakeholders 
  • Uncover new ML/AI opportunities to build solutions aligned with business priorities to improve user experience by exploring the latest tools and techniques in AI, LLMs, Data Science. 
  • Use your statistical knowledge to improve the data culture in the team by implementing & training the team on the use of digital developments e.g. data science models, and AI. 

About you

  • At least 5 years of strong relevant work experience in applying data science modelling techniques 
  • Experience in sensory science, consumer research, or food science/industry data is a plus 
  • Bachelors, Master’s, PhD, or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, etc.) 
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable business value through solving real-world problems through data science, advanced statistical analytics, and machine learning techniques (predictive modeling, probabilities, hypothesis testing, multivariate analysis, etc.), translating business problems into data problems. 
  • Proficient in Python and/or R (must), SQL  
  • Experience with Databricks, Azure and data visualization software (Power BI or Tableau) would be an advantage 
  • Experience in multiple machine learning facets: model development, statistics, experimentation, data visualisation, data management (data pipelines, ETL), large language models (LLMs) 
  • You are fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to simply and concisely explain complex analytical topics with technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Flexibility to accommodate change and thrive amid ambiguity. 
  • Intellectual curiosity for problem-solving and a passion for keeping up to date with current methodological developments in data science, AI and food science area.
