ABOUT THE ROLE - Te tūranga mahi

 

We are looking for a Facilities Technician to join our team at our Balclutha site. This is a hands-on, varied role responsible for maintaining site-wide facilities, utilities, and services to support safe, efficient manufacturing operations.

Working as part of the Technical and Production teams, you will play a key role in ensuring our site remains well-maintained, compliant, and operating at a high standard.

 

This vacancy is a permanent full-time position, working Monday - Friday, 8:00 am- 4:30 pm.

 

Key Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Maintain and operate site utilities and services to support production
  • Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance across facilities and infrastructure
  • Support pest control, grounds maintenance, and site cleanliness
  • Manage waste and recycling processes, including handling and coordination
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts and telehandlers (where licensed)
  • Complete work orders and respond to maintenance notifications
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and operational activities
  • Participate in internal and external audits
  • Liaise with contractors, service providers, and internal teams
  • Support compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and sustainability standards

About you

ABOUT YOU - Mō Koe

 

You will be someone who works well with a wide range of stakeholders across technical, production and support teams, building strong relationships and coordinating tasks effectively to keep site operations running smoothly. Your experience in a similar facilities, maintenance or manufacturing environment will support your success in this role.

You bring a proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to manage changing priorities, maintain attention to detail, and follow tasks through to completion. Strong communication skills, sound judgement, and a solutions-focused mindset will enable you to influence outcomes positively while supporting a safe and efficient working environment.

 

To be successful you will have:

  • Previous experience in facilities, maintenance, or manufacturing operations (3+ years preferred)
  • Experience in a hygienic or food production environment (advantageous)
  • A full Class 1 driver’s licence
  • Forklift licence and/or chemical handling experience (preferred, training provided)
  • Strong understanding of health & safety and environmental compliance
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Physical fitness to perform manual tasks, including lifting and prolonged standing
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to identify and manage risks
