Industrial BI & Data Engineering Manager

About the job

Reporting to the Senior Manager, BI & Data Excellence, you are responsible for maintaining, deploying, and improving tactical and operational Business Intelligence initiatives at the Boucherville plant.

By joining this role, you will have the opportunity to directly contribute to the success of highly ambitious projects within a digital transformation flagship plant, and more broadly to the BI & Data Excellence team within the Insight, Strategy and Transformation division.

You will be required to develop BI products, excel in data engineering mainly within a manufacturing context, and keep the needs of your internal clients at the core of your work.

More specifically, you will be responsible for:

Ensuring industrial team coverage

  • Provide close, engaging, and responsive support to manufacturing teams
  • Simplify the experience of industrial teams by managing requests and coordinating communications with BI and IT teams involved in manufacturing BI projects
  • Communicate the progress of initiatives to stakeholders and be accountable for deliverables

Developing BI products and contributing to excellence

  • Develop and maintain data flows and semantic models (Microsoft Fabric / Power BI), batch ETL/ELT pipelines (SSIS), and real-time pipelines (MQTT, Influx DB and OPC UA Forge)
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and scorecards (Power BI and Grafana)
  • Contribute to data architecture design and promote CI/CD best practices, while supporting Data/BI teams in improving practices and resolving data quality issues
  • Develop foundational Power BI user capabilities
  • Apply, promote, and contribute to pragmatic data governance and BI governance practices, including data quality, standardization, access management, and prioritization

The annual base salary range for this position is $70,000.00 to $110,000.00 CAD. The final salary offered will be determined by factors such as relevant experience and qualifications, internal equity and external market conditions.

About you

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Knowledge of the manufacturing sector and/or consumer goods industry, and/or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.Eng.)
  • Ability to develop solutions using Microsoft Fabric and/or Power BI
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with demonstrated excellence in developing ETL/ELT pipelines (batch and streaming) from operational systems, time-series databases, and relational databases
  • Proficiency with the following tools: Power BI (or Fabric), SQL Server, SSIS, SSDT, Visual Studio, or similar tools
  • Proficiency with SQL (SQL Server, Historian, Snowflake), DAX, and M
  • University degree (Bachelor’s, Graduate Diploma, or Master’s) in a field related to data engineering and business intelligence, or equivalent practical experience
  • French & English are mandatory (spoken and written). Bilingualism is required for this position, as it involves frequent communication with our business units, plants, and business partners located outside Québec
