Internal Control Lead

As an Internal Control Lead, you will be responsible for establishing and sustaining a robust internal control environment across sales, factories & warehouses, farm, corporate functions, and business services. The role ensures risk mitigation, process reliability, and alignment with Group Internal Control standards, while providing leadership to the Internal Control team and partnering with senior management to enhance governance, compliance, and continuous improvement across all functions.

As an Internal Control Lead, you will be doing the following activities:

Governance & Framework Deployment

• Deploy the Group Internal Control Framework complemented with our regional risk-based approach, methodology, and yearly updates across the business.
• Ensure clear communication of roles, responsibilities, and expectations to BPOs and control owners.
• Maintain updated documentation and ensure strong awareness of internal control principles.

Risk Management & Reporting

• Lead risk assessment exercises and risk discussions.
• Provide accurate, timely, and high‑quality internal control reporting to the business, Group and Cluster.

Present insights, key messages, and risk priorities to CODI and senior management.

Testing & Monitoring

• Oversee annual internal control testing: planning, quality, and execution.
• Review test sheets, ensure relevance to risk exposure, and approve documentation.
• Anticipate issues and risks in an early stage, identify deficiencies, evaluate root causes, and ensure effective remediation plans.

Process Improvement & Continuous Improvement

• Partner with operational functions to redesign processes, optimize controls, and support digital transformation initiatives.
• Lead continuous improvement programs aligned with Group targets and DBS Service Excellence.
• Support IT projects to ensure controls are embedded in new systems and workflows.

Audit Coordination

• Act as the primary contact for internal and external auditors.
• Support preparation, fieldwork, and follow‑up of audits.
• Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and communicate progress to management.

Training, Communication & Culture Building

• Develop a strong internal control culture through training, awareness sessions, and communication initiatives.
• Ensure all employees understand key policies, risks, and process requirements.
• Facilitate knowledge‑sharing across countries and teams.

Incident Management & Investigations

• • Investigate incidents such as stock discrepancies, fraud suspicions, or control failures.
  • Provide recommendations and oversee corrective and preventive actions.

Corporate Internal Control & Group Internal Audit

• Liaising with Corporate Internal Control team in France on all control, governance and risk management topics.
• DANgo reporting campaign for H1 and H2: ensure reporting deadlines are respected, and all reporting requirements are met as per Group instructions.
• Liaising with Group Internal Audit during audit assignments and subsequent communication with regards to action plan implementation and progress.

Team Development

• Lead and develop the 1 (+2) Internal Control team members.

Provide coaching and guidance and ensure succession planning to build long-term organizational capability.

Languages required:

• Fluent in English and Arabic

Experience:

• 9+ years of experience in Internal Control, Internal Audit, External Audit, or Process Improvement roles.
• Strong knowledge of SAP
• Big 4 experience, CPA/ACCA will be preferred
• Competency in use of Microsoft Office 365

Education:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
