About the job

We have a fantastic vacancy for a strong Maintenance Electrician to join our state-of-the-art production facility in Balclutha within a versatile Maintenance team. In this role, you will provide technical support to production and ensure that production runs smoothly. Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader you will be assisting with documentation, asset management monitoring, and work alongside external contractors.

This is a permanent full-time position, working shifts from 6 – 6 (2 days, 2 nights 4 off) including weekends. 

You will

  • Take ownership of Maintenance and support production with technical support
  • Manage daily maintenance operations to ensure smooth plant functionality and production continuity.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills by promptly addressing incidents causing production downtime or wastage.
  • Coordinate with engineering and electrical contractors to maximize plant uptime and minimize costs.
  • Foster teamwork by maintaining positive working relationships with various stakeholders, including Maintenance Manager, Reliability Engineer, Maintenance Team Leader, and Production staff.
  • Ability to resonate critically and make recommendations and adjustments where needed.
  • Provide training to production and engineering staff on relevant maintenance activities and practices.

About you

Ideally, you will have:

  • Solid experience in an Engineering/Maintenance role within the food/dairy manufacturing industry
  • NZ Registered Electrician is an essential and Trade Certificate (Advanced trade preferred).
  • A high level of fault-finding ability and able to work with pneumatics, PLC, correct fitting procedures for rolling element bearings; CMMS knowledge (SAP) is desirable
  • Have the understanding to make sketches/drawings of parts to be made for plant improvements and repairs
  • Able to communicate clearly across different departments.
  • Flexible to accommodate the needs of the team where needed.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
